Do not commit the SIN of adding R56 parts to an R53. If you do I will personally put eyelashes on the b!tch Isobell at the Dragon next year with Epoxy. :mad2::nonod::mad2::nonod::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad5::mad2:
Nope, I actually have 13" Wilwoods I need to get rid of. Got to go back to stock brakes to fit the new wheels.
FYI ~ The first Gen JCW brakes are commonly known as the "R56 standard brakes". The late Gen 1 R53's JCW brakes came on MINI's before MINI went to huge Brembos and before the R56 was born. So technically they are still Gen 1 R53 parts as I have a set of original R53 JCW brakes and not take-off from an R56. :arf::ihih: Also they are the same brakes that cam on the original GP. (See below) MINI History Lesson over.
New parts come in Monday from eMINI! That means next weekend, its back to work getting paint on the bumpers. Might do some little stuff Saturday, but Sunday I have an appointment in the woods behind a rifle.
By the way... R56 trailing arms (which Dave will say are OK because they're also on the GP) and R56 JCW rear brakes are also both legit upgrades for the R53. Just sayin'. Not a sin to do those, IMHO.
There are TONS of them out there in junkyards now, plenty of donor cars available. car-part.com is your friend.
Long, light skinny aluminum TA from an 07 might be available. PM me. Maybe free if they are what you want/need. Don
Those trailing arms from the R56 and the v1 GP were also on a handfull of very late 2006 R53s... I think Nate got one.
I had real bullet holes in my old Suzuki... Those came from anger and not really a planned mod though.
Ok, weekend is over. I did get some stuff done though... I am not going to say what all I did though, it's up to you guys to look at the pic's and figure it out! (No fair if you are on the RMW forum or my FB, a lot has already been posted) Look through these 3 and find the changes... And here are some sweet extreme edits... :beer
My Box-0-Stuffs from eMINI was waiting for me when I got home! Parts are in perfect shape, for now... They even threw in a little swag bag (no not that kind, even though its legal here.) inside was some stickers, pins, tire pressure gauge, a magazine, and the coveted all mighty M/A fridge magnet. Sometimes a company going a little out of their way to add something special goes a long way, so thanks guys, I will be ordering more stuff soon-ish. Well looks like its out to the garage to check the parts out!
