Engine has been sitting on a pallet in the corner of the garage since before the Dragon... Its just getting all the little stuff it needs out of the way, and it should be under the hood in a couple months.
I like the position of the vanity plate, looks like it needs a few lengths of barbed wire to keep it in place.
Yep, those bumpers have the smallest opening to the radiator for cooling, and that's not going to cut it with me, so removing the plastic where the plate goes was a no brainer. Best part is the grille mesh from the "S" bumper has an open area just big enough to hack it up and fill the hole with OE grille plastic! Now if I can only find the plastic grille for the lower opening I will be set! All I can seem to find is the stainless steel one, which looks funny to me... and they want $60 for it! :confused5:
So here was todays project: Valve cover painting... I wanted it to look like an aluminum cover with the paint rotting off, but the cover is plastic! Nothing I cant handle... So now it's aluminum? And I said "Let there be Spice Orange!" Then it was, but rather quickly the orange started to fall off! (With the help of a little sand paper) All said and done, the clear went on... NO FLATTENER! I want this shiny!:drool No it's not perfectly smooth, but I didn't want smooth... To me it looks as good or better than the rust! Now it's back to polishing for me.:beer
That got me thinking: I should do a mud covered look with paint to save me jet washing the engine after every rally! This project should be featured on Mini Space.
Sprintex GONE! It is for sale if anybody wants it... Or it will be disposed of with an explosive touch next summer... Asking $2K+ shipping.
