Hey old guy keep on truckin as they say.;) At a youthful 72 I only have one MINI in my garage. I've been told by she who must be obeyed that we will always have that MINI.

As most of you know I've jumped ship & now drive a nice jaunty GTI. Smooth, comfortable & pretty quick. I'll be keeping my Fahrvergnügen ride for a long time. Took it out Wednesday to help my buddy Bill work on Eric's Riverrun. Did just over 300 miles & it didn't kill me. Sometimes smooth & comfortable is better. ;)

It’s not bad. I wanted the most powerful in the R60 line with the added weight and AWD. It’s like 3300 lbs but doesn’t feel it. I think the sport suspension, lower ride height and stiffer sway bars help. I mean it’s no R53 or R56, but with a family it’s more fun than most anything else on the road.

I don't misunderstand you. I made a grave mistake in selling my Classic back in the day and regretted it until after I retired. That's when I bought into the "new" Gen 1 MINIs and have never looked back. Aging has taken its toll on me, but I am completely comfy with the ways my Minis ride.

However, it IS a shame that today's new owners are more interested in family cars and seem to care less in Minis like those models I have [Gen 1] and will have til the day I [or they] die.

BTW, I wave at every MINI I see when I'm out and about...like every day.

Hi and welcome back, the 2015 is a good JCW CM year, looks excellent too.

I still have our 2011 Countryman, but have sold the 16 CM Parklane and have sold the 2020 JCW Clubman, I do miss the Clubby a bit, raw power and low to ground. Had a loaner when I had some repair done on the 2011 CM, loaner was a 2023 Clubby JCW sadly I have heard they are killing the Clubby line (Thanks BMW).

Take care and enjoy the countryman, makes a nice road trip MINI.

LOL @wmwny If you knew how many people we lost you would not ask. This forum has been devastated by negativity. I truly would like to turn it around. It is not FB that is killing MA, it was people felt unwelcome here and just left. I am on a couple other forums and they are thriving, they have at least 2 pages worth of post each day, we are luck to get a couple post. Ask @Sully, we spent a lot of time on the phone and in emails trying to fix problems. We lost a lot of really good people. When Nathan band Dave I was the one that talked Nathan into letting him come back, others told me I should not do it. They were right! He cam back and attack Nathan, it was not right! I regret my hand in it. Nathan was trying to be nice by bringing him back. That was the first mass exodus from MA. Nathan sold his Mini and sold MA and left. Josh finally took over and worked hard on MA. And I am here every day hoping it gets kicked started agin.
I really like Dave he was one of the most helpful people I know. I won't and cant get into anything more only to say I wish things worked differently but they did not.

I know some are not happy with me over all this, I would say sorry, but I’m not. It is disheartening to have members PM you to say they won't be back even after you try and make it right.

For all you that are still here thank you for hanging on. We need everyone here to help make MA what it was. If you know any old members that haven't been here in a while please encourage them to come back.

    Your MA Mom

I think part of the problem is the car itself. When I bought my car in 05 I had no idea what the car was about. After I drove it I was hooked. It handled like a go cart. Even now I really enjoy driving it on back roads or the freeway it's just fun. The new Minis seem to me to be more of a family car. They might still handle well but they don't look like it to me. I think they are to appeal to a larger group of people. I would bet that they are sealing more 4 doors. I think most of the new owners are not interested in forms like this.

One of the reasons we have only a few old guys hanging on here is the fact the new F56 MINI owners were told their cars were not real MINI's so many times they left. I'm guilty of doing that too. On other forums they seem to be quite active. As time has past I have gotten used to them. No they are not my cup of tea, but live & let live. I believe that ship has sailed & they won't be coming back. :Dead:

I'm 77.5, and lame. All my driving life, I used a stick shift, until my clutch pedal leg gave out. I own 3 MINIs...an '03 R50 cvt and two '06 R53s with automatics. My very first Mini [when I was 18 years old] was a 1959 Morris Mini Minor 850 with a 4 speed.

Getting rid of the Morris about killed me, but, back then, replacement parts were hard to come by, and I was getting ready for college. So I sold it...bought a VW and then had seller's remorse a week later, so I went back to the dealer to "reclaim" my Mini, but, ALAS, it was GONE!

So, after I retired I've ended up with 3 MINIs from 2003 until now, and I plan to keep them and drive them until they [or I] fall apart. I have NO use for a 4-door car of ANY make, and much less enthusiasm for any car with a cushier ride...just gimmie my MINIs.

I think you miss understand me. I do not have a problem with the newer Mini's or the people that buy them. It's that they don't seem to be all that interested in things like this site. I remember when every Mini that drove by would wave at you. How on one does. By the way I'm 80

Last Friday my sweetie & I were sitting at a traffic light in Skooby when a new green F56 MCS drove by. The guy was waving like crazy. Some folks do get it me thinks.... :)

I thought for a while we were going to have a non-denominational group of car men & women. Turned out I was wrong, guess some un-named folks thought non-MINIs were polluting the gene pool. I'm driving the same GTI. I do tend keep my cars a long time. ;)

Yes Riverrun is still happening. I stepped back from doing it a few years ago, then my friend Bill stepped up & is continuing the tradition. He does one heck of a great job of it.

I'll let you know when it's happening. It isn't Memorial Day weekend. I think it has been moved to around Labor Day.

I wanted an LCI R60 and I’m weird, but still wanted a MINI that mostly rode on a unique MINI platform and not a BMW Platform. It is a blend of an R56 and the BMW X1 so not completely unique to just MINI. I know the F series are much more powerful and I think the BMW power trains are more reliable, but the N18 isn’t a bad engine. I’m still impressed how much more powerful the N18 JCW feels. I had a 2014 X1 for a while and while it had a bigger engine, these feel very comparable. The R60 handles way better and is a comfortable road car. I plan on doing some track days and probably AutoX with it.
