I was going to stay out of this one, but here it is...

Nate, with all due respect, and I do respect you, this is almost disingenuos..

First of all, it has nothing to do with the weather. Many of the snipers live in warm climates.:wink:

The MINI crowd breaks down into sections. There is social crowd, who mainly do aesthetic and not so aethetic things to their MINI while trying to be aesthetic, who meet at ice cream parlors, do good deeds like canned drives and pick up roadside litter and stuff, and drive on pretty roads when the leaves change and finish it all of with a hot toddy while singing, holding hands and singing "Kumbaya." Ok, I'm being a bit facetious; I totally get this, and although it's not for me I think it's very cool people do that, that so many people who buy a car share so many common interests and bond. Those people RARELY write a discouraging word, they're way too busy being taking their "Life is Good" T-shirt seriously. And to your credit you have gotten many of them over here as their "home" instead of NAM.

But the other faction you had a ton of experience with at NAM, and you KNEW this would happen. It's the nature of the beast. Because the majority of the truly hardcore modders are all wound tight, wether they be vendors or consumers. You wanted to bring in all sides, and hoped everyone who had been banned from NAM would somehow now get along. That was NEVER going to happen, and it never will. There are too many hidden agendas, too much has been said in public and private for people to just set it down, heck, there has even been physical threats made, which is the only thing that really bothers me. There are people in the community that genuinely do not like each other. There will always be these arguments.

So you can ban everyone like NAM, live with it, or maybe set up an unmoderated area with a warning, like several of the MIATA sites, where everyone has their "big boy" pants on. You could even trial it for short period of time to see if it works or not. We're adults, this isn't a kid site. You could call it "The Playground", and if people on the moderated forums were pissing you off, you could move their posts there, and tell them to take it to the playground.

I've been torched here before, but I have NEVER reported a post or a user, and never will, nor have I ever asked for a thread to be moderated, either by myself or someone else. I simply don't care what someone writes about me here or anywhere else. Be nice if I could go to place where everyone else had the same understanding.

But if you're not going to do it, either start banning like NAM, or come to the realization that it's not every going to be utopia.

I realize this is so long probably no one will read it. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

I don't like NAM, except for the marketplace. I rarely go there, haven't in weeks. I like this site, there are a number of people here who's posts I go out of my way to read because I respect them.

I don't hang out here as much as I used to because frankly because I get the feeling certain people are more welcome here than others. But if you want me or anyone else to leave, just say it. You still have the site with the most people who actually know anything about modding a car, NAM has virtually nothing. If you want them, occasionally you're going to have contentious arguments, it's the nature of the beast, you may be able to slightly tame the beast, but you can't kill it. That's the price you pay, if you want to entertain and attract the modding crowd. Maybe you don't.

If you don't want that crowd, just keep posting what you did, and they'll go away to other places. You'll have a site where the most serious question will be, "Is Mobile 1 any good?" Very stimulating threads, that really drive up traffic. Like NAM.

How about instead of "working it out" we all just act like adults instead of pissed off little kids.....and RESPECT each other. Thick skin should not be a prerequesite to joining a forum.

Idk about you but we had an extremely late winter here(southwest MO). It didnt snow until late january, and we still have snow in march. but only about 18 more days to come.

And since when did this whole thing turn into a bitchfest about mods, it started in the frikkin' MINI of the month thread and what some folks felt was their need to interject there dislike of a persons car or posts for christs sake .
