It was three series France, California Both mainly wine, Then drink to Britain was a bit more general. All were fantastic, here in Ontario out Liquor control board sucks but anywhere else I recommend taking notes of things to try.
The issue there is one of copyright. The BBC seems to look the other way and even encourage the viral spread of Top Gear by allowing non-BBC controlled sites to host Top Gear videos. The same can't be said for any other BBC shows that I know of.
Another great James May series was one he did with Ozwald Clarke. They did 2 series. Oz and James Drink to France and Oz and James Drink to Britain. They are both great fun to watch. They used to be easy to find online. Now that the BBC has cracked down on that stuff I don't know anymore. But if you can find them watch them.
You are right! I forgot about the California one. That was a great show. I don't like wine so it stands to reason that the British one was my favorite series.
