There are two options for the train ride. I need to get the majority vote here. 3:00 - 3:45 - Steam Locomotive (standard trip 40 minuets) $13 adults and $6 for youth, or for the First Class observation car it is $21 for adults and $9 for youth. OR 4:30-6:00 - Railtown 1897 SHP - Wildflower Train - Ticket Prices $21 for adults and $10 for youth. This is a specialty train ride where we will learn about the wildflowers and it is 75 Minutes. They only do this two weekends a year.
As to the roads. By then all roads should be clear (cross your fingers). I don't know if we would change going the 49 route. We all really love the twisties and I really don't want to loose those. What is the other routs that you guys want to take. I will look into them!
Since I have gotten no response about the train. I think we are going to by pass the train. I think I'm the only one who has not been able to do it. So unless I get some interest I am canceling it all together. I have got the interest to go up to Columbia after lunch to enjoy the shops up there! As of now that is the plan. I am calling around to get u a place for lunch. I have a few places to call tomorrow. I know that this would mean the Jamestown run just turned into the Sonora/Columbia run. We go for the drive right!!!
Count Kiki in; may be bringing "The Dad". Bitzie will still be "serving her country" by preparing those last minute tax returns.
Hey Guys, this is my home turf. There are a number of places in downtown Sonora to eat. There is the Diamondback which makes gourmet burgers, there is Outlaws BBQ, Alfredos Mexican, etc etc. You may have to split up depending on the size of your group. Its fun to walk around the downtown area also. Columbia is cool but not too many food choices. Jamestown has a number of restaurants also including Kamms chinese, Willow steakhouse, National Hotel..... Lots of choices, might cruise down and say Hi since you guys are coming into my hood.... Larry
Hi. I have a brother that lives up in Angles Camp, his wife recommended "The Peppery". Her friend owns the Diamondback, but parking downtown my be a problem? She said we can park at the bowling ally? Both my brothers have lived up in the area for years My other brother ended up in Groveland though. You a golfer? My brother runs the golf shop at Greenhorn Creek. Hope to see you.
I have golfed at Greenhorn, nice course. You could park at the bowling alley or just find a spot on one of the back streets. The Peppery is good also and it will hold a big group. My parents live in Fresno but I was lucky enough to relocate up here in Sonora after college. Have been here for 16 years now, wife was born and raised in Sonora.
Hey all, I called a few places. I have two choices so if I could get your opinion that would be great. Peppery room for us good parking can not separate check but can take separate payment (the can take multiple credit cards on the same bill) Standard Pour Room for us looks to be good parking will do separate checks we have to spend at least 300.00 to have the room as of right now per person would be 18.00. with both locations have their downfalls but both seam to be not that bad in price. The diamondback is too small for our group the same people own the standard pour. so if you guys could let me know what one we would rather deal with, we will go with majority. I think the peppery would be good. but cash would be best from everyone. I can split the bill per party if need be. thanks to all tina
I located the menus on the internet for those who are interested. The Standard Pour - Sonora, CA Peppery Gar & Brill - Sonora | Urbanspoon
Hey All, I have just talked to Dusty, and he came up with an extended route so I wanted to run it by you all before I say yes for sure. I think that this would br fun. The only issue is it will add about 45 min to an hour to the drive time to Sonora. I have enclosed the link to the map. The good news is we still get to drive over the river. Now for all of you that can't go a long time with out stopping to go to the bath room. There will be two rest stops. Raleys Oakhurst and Mariposa Fairgrounds (might be open but might not too). Otherwise all the way till Sonora. http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=37.45350975150223~-120.02647697925559&lvl=10&dir=0&sty=r&rtp=pos.36.74061477184296_-119.78567965328693_Fresno%2C%20CA___e_~v.37.30617220562055_-119.65192790978995_SR-41%20%2F%20Southern%20Yosemite%20Hwy~v.37.43248544686632_-120.09747451318374_SR-140%20%2F%20State%20Highway%20140~v.37.516386850568544_-120.24174034595468_Bear%20Valley%20Rd%20%2F%20CR-J16~pos.37.975541_-120.349525_13494%20Mono%20Way%2C%20Sonora%2C%20CA%2095370-5333___e_&mode=D&rtop=0~0~0~&FORM=LMLTCC Please let me know if you guys would be up for this!!!!!! Tina PS: I think the Peppery Won!!!
Hmm........that won't get us to lunch till 1pm or so? Will not give us much time to hang at Columbia?
