Yeah, I guess so. Maybe brake ducts would help a little bit, but it would probably just turn dark anyway, just a little more slowly.
Well, that's a tell tale sign of who has been going to the track. -
yep. the gold ones on Nissans and Subaru's turn a dark gold instead of bright gold. I'm trying to find pics to show you but googling isn't helping much

I repaint my calipers frequently... for this very reason. It's not just a mod... it's a lifestyle.

could just do this....

Mine look the same. Just shows that they get used hard.

Here's an idea....
Strip them and put on one of the baked on heat transfer thermal coatings.... They wouldn't be as pretty, but you would probably shed some more heat.
Painted calipers look nice, but that's about it.

Maybe I should just wear my burnt paint as a badge of honor. After all, I did earn it!

Mine "goes" and "shows".
Just takes a LOT more work to do both. -
Yes, plenty of work indeed. I also do not believe you have to make an exclusive choice of the two, having it all is more fun.

Try some of this stuff to get an idea of how hot your brakes are getting:
Thermax 8 Level Temperature Indicator Strips
Genesis Technologies Racing Brake Temperature Paint -
I don't know how revelant this is but on my last 2 coopers both of them did track days (including VIR which is extremely hard on brakes....at least more so than Mid Ohio or Roebling) and so far the brakes stay red. (my '08 MCS had 20K on it and my JCW now has 13K)
Point is, I always make sure my calipers are clean. I don't know if the dirtiness "bakes" into the calipers and makes them turn dark prematurely but so far, mine are as shiny red as they were when they were new.
Of course, I wash my calipers (along with the car) at least 2-3 per week.

I keep my car, including the brakes....very clean. The issue is not cleanliness or baked on dirt, etc. It is a simple heat issue which is slowly burning the caliper paint, scortching it and turning it darker and darker.

Ok, so I finally got around to refinishing the calipers such that they are nice and red again.
I was able to tape around the JCW logo, and the color match was almost perfect. I used Duplicolor caliper paint. While the product claims a 500F tolerance, I sure wish it was more like 1100F. anyway, the plan is for the new brake ducts to make a difference and keep the temps low enough so as to not scorch the new paint. The next track day will tell, but for now, they look new again.
The driver's side was worse, and I would guess is it is because most of my track time has been clockwise. Anyway, here is a before pic, and see that the scorching extends much further on the caliper. The after looks like the passenger side. This first pic is dirty, but you can tell that the carriers still look fine, no scorching.
