The scoop has become a louver..... No.... make that a "Scoopler" or maybe a "Sclouver" or how about an embarrassment.... The next design will have a row of small smokestacks with those little flapper doohickies on top that you see on old tractors....

I like it. I've seen $373 + shippeing spent on dumber things. Painted up that will great on your JCW's. I'm guessing a hole will need to be cut into the bonnet to accomidate it.

In thory it would allow the heat to dissipate better. The extra venting would help prevent heat buildup directly under the scoop.
If nothing else it would be unique! -

I'd think a race car moving as fast as it can go will not be melting hood scoops. Way too much airflow for that.
If a scoop did melt, it would be a small price to pay for that big horsepower.:drool As far as I know no one that I know with an R56 MCS has had a scoop melt. Urban myth maybe. -
