    Anybody catch the irony? The fake "scoop" now has a completely opposite function... to expel air!

    The strange thing is.... The current scoop sits back on the plastic shape and does form somewhat of a seal directing a percentage of air into the engine compartment (allowing for the fact that not all the holes in the honeycomb are open). This new design moves the scoop more to the front of the plastic piece and makes no attempt at funneling air into the hood opening, with the louvers allowing some of the directed air to escape.

    Apparently there must be some wind tunnel benefit, why else would they spend money for a part earmarked for racing that is not readily available through their dealer distribution?

    Because that had to put something up there or people would think it was a "justa coupe". Heck, that thing might have been sitting on the shelf from way, way back and had never been used. :lol:

    I'm thinking if it was open at the front when on track it would not allow the heat to escape out those top vents.

    Hummm, perhaps the air rushing over the louvers creates a vacuum and draws the hot air out, rather then force air in. In which case you are correct, in that an open front would defeat that goal.

    Yeah, Bernoulli.... They make really really good pasta. Had some last week with a meatless red sauce. Fresh sliced heirloom tomatoes with sliced fresh Mozzarella and fresh Basel, drizzled with olive oil and a little salt and pepper. Ahhhhh heaven. A nice crispy baguette and sweet butter and a young white wine. Beautyness.....:D

    The Bernoulli principle is the basis behind all aero aids (if designed correctly) and they make good pizza crust too. If MM got a wing for Fungo, he might be tempted to eat it. :lol:

    I kind of like the look of it. And love the idea of my scoop not melting. I'm currently on number 3! The most recent one I had melted in under a month. Granted, a week of that month was spent zipping around the mountains of North Carolina! But I agree, not sure if it's worth $400. If I'm going to spend that I might as well just get the carbon fiber scoop.
