    All the comments I've seen here about the GPII being a mildly upgraded JCW are true.... But it is still the fastest factory MINI around the 'ring... by a noteworthy 18 seconds or thereabouts. OK mostly the result of the sticky rubber and coilovers.. But still a fact.

    I still think it's a real hoot that there is going to be a MINI on R Comp tires and coilovers from the dealer with a warranty.

    I also think that if one can obtain those coilovers from the parts counter there are gonna be some interesting Coupes running around...that is if the parts are transferable. I know I'd be looking at doing that for my track Coupe, ya know, the oen I'm going to get with the windfall from _______.

    There's the problem, haven't figured out _____ yet.

    It's a little butt ugly with all the stickers and Waaaaaaaaaay overpriced ...for 18 seconds.

    There's comes a point where you need to say, "dude, you want HOW MUCH FOR A MINI?" and then move on to another type of car for the price.

    Or you can look it as MINI that is $12K less than a Goodwood model. (assuming a $40k sticker on the GPII)

    Those are selling, so maybe there is a market for this car too, albeit a small one.

    We should have a guess how much the US sticker will be thread....

    My guess would be R56 JCW + ugly stickers and wheels - Carbon = $ 42,995.00 before dealer markup.

    I still say this car could have been so much more unique than ugly but they fell short yet again.

    I am thinking over $50 000 here in Canada. Just for fun I configured a JCW @$47 000, sure I selected almost all the options but even with that I still think the GP will be more than a fully loaded JCW.

    So for the GPII...18 seconds at ~100 mph (avg speed) -> more than a half mile ahead of the next fastest MINI... the GPI. That is a significant lead....

    new JCW GP Specs and picture.

    The car looks spectacular! I love the color and body work but though it would have more power.:cornut:

    pretty much 40 grand and they arent even talking about the almost guaranteed dealer upcharge plus tax/title/dealer/transport fees so we are talking a 45-50 grand car depending on the dealership...if the WC50 was any indication that was a 45 grand mini with a 5k+upcharge

    Concerns about price gouging are premature. Our local dealer has no markup in the GP2 for example. And even some WC50s went out the door well below MSRP (based on first-hand knowledge :wink:)

    There were plenty of original GPs sitting unsold on dealer lots back in 2006. The market for this car is relatively small. I expect that anyone who wants one can get one at MSRP without much difficulty.

    The GPII had sticky tires on. The GPI didn't. That 18 seconds is going to shrink considerably if it becomes and Apples to Apples comparison.

    I agree. If you take an original GP and add sticky tires, a larger brake kit (and turn those fake air ducts into real ones), and better shocks/struts I think you will have a pretty close match.
