That's a good price for the seat, but I find the 80 bucks shipping hard to believe, unless it's going by slow boat. I believe I saw a thread about that site somewhere and the trouble it took to get it into the cart and actually purchase.
Nice seats! -

I got my Recaro thru Schmiedman's last Fall for ~$1700 including air freight from Denmark. You do not pay the VAT (25%!) and the seat comes with bun warmer and attachment points for a 5 point harness. I use a CG Lock instead to prevent forward movement under heavy braking and it works great on my DD. That seat is worth every penny I paid for it. Just finished a 5K run with a lot of it in horrible weather and some ghastly roads with no aches or pains. Did one stint of 850mi with no back trouble at all for these 67yr old bones. Be aware that only the driver's seat is a "plug and play". The passenger seat does not include the seat/weight sensors. These must be added or the car's safety system will have a fit. If you've got the dinero, I highly recommend the Recaros!

orangecrush (a member here but more active on NAM) also has them. He ordered his from a UK vendor and chronicled his installation on NAM.
MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - JCW Recaro seats are a GO!!! DONE!!!
MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Good news, bad news, good news, bad news....
For the passenger seat sensor, he bought a new pad, installed it in the seat, and a dealer programmed it into the computer. However, firehawk618 on NAM recently discovered how to disable the seat sensor using NCS programming software.

Saftey issue; some places will allow you a four point with any seat, but require a fixed back seat for 5 or 6 point harnesses; they won't allow a 5 or 6 point on a regular seat. Forgot the exact reason why, but there is an issue (at least theoretically) with those harnesses if the back isn't fixed. -
Regular reclining type seats can break in the event of wreck and leave your torso flailing about while your hips are held in place when using a 5-6 point harness.
The addition of a brace such as this off a roll bar will help to keep the seat back of a reclining seat in place.

My wife prefers not to have the heated seats on, she says it makes her feel like she has to go pee  -
I have a 2013 JCW with the Recaro interior.... Do they make a 4, 5 or 6 point harness?
Anyone? -
For JCW Recaro's, I'd share my wife. I'm not sure if Schroth ever got around to making an r56 version of the quick fit, but if they did, it would be legal and pass tech. You'd have a hard time passing tech with a 5 or 6 point harness on a reclining seat, you wouldn't with any group that I know of in my immediate area.
