Don't overthink this Mario.;) Just make sure your car is up to snuff, especially the brakes. Fresh high temp fluid & pads. Leave your ego at home. It's good you have a friend that is track knowledgeable.

I'll give you one tip. You don't need to protect your line entering a corner. After 10 years of racing I couldn't break that habit. No one passes in the corners on a track day. o_O

A P car is not a P car unless it is tracked, Mark. I guess I never figured you would track the Helmet.

I LOVED all the track days and tracks I covered, but all good things have to come to an end, eventually. My last track days were 7 years ago.

It's great to see you back here again, Mark! Please don't be a stranger.

I'm doing okay, and still have the '03 R50 and the 2 '06 R53s [my wife's and mine]...getting older but still clicking along.

So, Lee, what track are you going to run the Helmet on?

And Mark, what tracks have your run the P car on?

I've done Putnam Park, IN, a lot as well as Mid Ohio [my favorite], with my S. I've also run the R50 at Putnam Park, as well as at Autobahn Country Club in IL, just outside of Chicago. Autobahn is a 2-track for members only, but Phil Wicks had a school there so I was able to take the R50 there. It was divided that weekend, so the R50 could run on each track while the members could use the other. Putnam Park was the favorite track for the R50, as Autobahn was just too fast for the Cooper.

The Helmet was on Mid Ohio and the P Car has been on Mid Ohio and Barber.

Memphis International Raceway. Big name for a small track. The straight is the drag strip. I will see how my first time goes. I would really like to drive Barber.

Seat time is the BEST time you can do with your car. It lets YOU know what YOU can do and how your car responds to what you are doing...right or wrong, and you learn to avoid the wrongs. The more experience you get by tracking your car, the better driver you will become, both on the tracks as well as on the interstates, where you must contend with the fast and furious but not so great drivers.
