I decided to get a ScanGauge instead. Not classic looking but does the job.

 

The US is converting to metric inch by inch..

 

Instead of the traditional gauge route, I went with a Scangauge II. Very pleased; 4 gauges displayed, many options programmable. It took about 8 minutes to install. Plus many trip computer options and OBDII code display and reset capability. Initially I set it up to display water temp, boost/vacuum, ignition advance, and current trip MPG.

 

:cornut:No,sorry. What I really want is an OEM oil pressure gauge but I'll be wanting a long time for that as someone in the Ivory Tower has proclaimed them Stone Age instruments and not needed in this day and age.:frown2:

Yes, I have both installed....on my R56.

 

Coolant temp is very useful. Should be a standard feature. The boost gauge .. Meh.

 

I have a temp. Gauge... Very useful! Especially when you get stuck on the road in bumper to bumper situation. You can see how engine cooling system is doing minute by minute...

 

I have both on my CM... I find the relative torque gauge to be more of a gimmickey fun gauge to have where the coolant temp is the gauge that matters most!

Before you know it you'll be feeling a lot warmer in Celsius. And you'll be measuring your wheel gap in millimeter's. You know you kind of feel guilty with pleasure talking bonnets and boots already. You do, don't cha?

Next time you see that Amish dude in the buggy.... Go ahead and roll down your window and compliment him on his stance and stealth color. Tell him he needs moar lower, that a set of KW V1's will give him, and tell him his black rims are hot. He might even give you a lead on where some smoking good cinnamon apple pie can be had......

can you please post some pics of your guages. trying to get a good idea of the positoning and how they mount to the Tach.

Can you take pics of the mounting points on the bacjk of the tach? I am thinking of fabricating some of my own and just want to see what the factory looks like. thanks

 

I have boost/vacuum, oil temp, water temp and oil pressure. They are all Marshall gages mounted on a home made gage pod/holder. They look like they belong in the MINI.

The vacuum gage is a very useful tool for maximizing the gas mileage. Just keep the gage in the vacuum range and the gas mileage goes way up, but it's not as much fun as romping on the gas pedal!

I haven't seen a torque gage, who makes that?
