Is that your vote for every 3,000 miles then Chuck?

No, I'd change the oil at 3,000 for the first time.

MINI pays for oil changes, but it is IMHO just crazy something like 15,000 miles. Do them between the free changes, so it would be like every 7,500.

What are you doing for oil changes on your Cooper? The countrygirl has the very same engine.

Pretty much what you mentioned. I guess I wasn't sure if the turbo made a difference. Thanks!

The turbo does make a difference, but FWIW those are the longest I'd go between oil changes.

There are many opinions on what is the best interval for oil changes. They will range from "BMW knows best & only do it when the oil nanny in the car says" to "change it every 3,000 miles" I'm in the middle. One thing I do know is changing it more often will not hurt it. Doing it at the mfr specified interval may.

If you change the oil yourself it is not a lot of money for the extra changes, if you have the dealer do all the changes it is going to cost more $$$. It is easy to change the oil on the MINI. A fun DIY that saves you money.
