If your having money troubles with the MINI love, say away from women and never get married.:ihih::lol:
I really wish I could just spambot that post's like button for the rest of eternity. Hahaha :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
So now I can't find the correct bolts to put my SC pulley back in place. I think it's 4 10-32 steel bolts, but I'm not sure (The bolts were nowhere near the scene of the boo-boo). I'm in communication with Waylen to try and figure it out though.
If you happen to have a Fastenal store nearby, they will have a nice assortment of SHCSs in stock for you to pick from.
I don't have a fastenal near me, but there's an ACE hardware only 30 min away. And Waylen said it IS 10-32 SS SHCS.
This breaks my heart to say. I sold the MINI... I was really putting too much money into it, and I couldn't afford to keep her anymore. I put up a tester ad, and a gentleman contacted me and offered me WAY more than the car was worth. He even knew what was left to fix on it, and he bought it off of me for quite a lot. And it really does seem like a good time too, because apparently today it won't turn over and is having lots of electrical issues. So now I'm MINIless. I'd love to get another R53 down the road, I just can't afford it right now, just due to how much it's costing me to keep up.. I really appreciate ya'll and how much you've helped me out with the MINI. My biggest regret is now I can't come to MOTD next year to meet you guys... Haha. I may still lurk around just to keep up on a few things here and there, but I'll probably be mostly absent. Happy motoring!
That sucks, but yeah, your MINI was a bit of a basket case. Best of luck to ya... Hope you find another.
Not a problem... Dont let a bad apple deter you from MINIs in general though. Anything that is 10 years old is going to have faults, this one was just a little more than expected. Your best bet on getting a good one would be to either get one used off the dealer lot (R53's do still pop up) or wait for somebody you know that keeps up on everything to want to trade theirs in.
Yeah, I'll be doing that at some point down the road. If you ever decide to sell the Rat, lemme know.
Maybe you have found your niche in life already!! If'n you can buy less than desirable cars and sell them for more than they are worth you'll be on easy street in no time.
Haha. It's actually something I've always thought about doing (flipping cars), but I don't plan on making a business out of it. But I was very surprised by how much money I made, even with everything I put in to it.
Sorry to see you sold the Mini. I felt bad selling the Subaru and then the Suzuki but the Mini is way better than the 2 previous rally cars.....my love is growing for the Mini....as is the problems.
I think this car build went sour only because there simply aren't enough photos in this thread. Project car threads need more photos Selling cars is pretty difficult for me - I grow attached to them, even cars like the Mini that are more trouble than fun. Perhaps the more time you spend on them the more you grow attached? I am putting mine on jack stands for the 4th or 5th time this summer today... still love that little thing.
