Nik, have those been trouble free miles? What needed attention, if anything?

I've manage to dont put so many miles on the MINI since i moved closer to work now...

I want from 102 miles one way down to 38.

My 06 is at 133k for now... cant wait to see that number jump for MITM!

Trouble free, no - but I have never been left stranded:Thumbsup:

For the most part I would consider normal maintenance on a car w/ this many miles. Obviously quite a few sets of tires, and I wont mention mods.

My list: valve cover gasket ( I caused the problem), Oil pan gasket, supercharger (@191k miles), cv joint boots (its lowered), 1 axle, 1 battery, couple sets of brakes, door lock actuator, window regulator, control arm bushings, and just did the power steering pump.

Again, none of those things seem out of ordinary to be replacing at this milage.

    Nik;
With the exception of the supercharger, it's been a very trouble free car for the miles.:D

Currently the passenger door lock actuator is bad, along w/ the window mechanism on the passenger side. Mini wants $180 for the window mechanism, but it can be fixed w/ a $5 cable. Next weekends project.

I realize this is an old thread; this is the trouble with my 03 passenger side window mechanism....how do I fix it with this "$5.00" cable...how difficult to repair ??
THANKS for your time and help !!

Ha - wow, that was awhile ago. The $5.00 fix only lasted a couple of weeks, I ended up buying the replacement actuator here.
On mine the cable had become dislodged from the regulator, so the whole regulator ended up needing to be replaced. I'm not sure why it happened, and haven't seen another one do the same thing. The window was stuck 1/2 way down because the cable had jammed up. The motor was still working.

It is somewhat common for the motor to stop working, some say if you hit the inside of the door just below the handle it will make it work again. Others say the electrical connections need to be cleaned.

    Good luck,

    Nik

Sure hope I can see the same. Then again at my current avg of 1100 miles a month over the past 49 months that will take close to 18 years in total to accomplish.

My '09 Clubby just turned 2 years old, and I have just under 30K on it, so I have a ways to go to hit 100K, but I'll get there!

OTOH, my wife's Audi bought new in Dec 2003, now has 48K - she does less than 7k a year, and that includes trips to either coast we've made, plus several to neighboring states!

I hope we don't start seeing $5/gal gas and higher, or some of these high mileages won't be happening in the future, it will simply cost too much to go!

I drive and play hard when I need/ want to, but most of it is commuting, so a lot of highway miles.......
Some mods, nothing too drastic, its been awhile since I thought about it lets see what I can remember
    -Alta CAI
-M7 Coils (sits about 1 1/2 inches off the ground)
-15% pulley (put on at about 30k)
    -Coil
    -Plugs
    -Wires
    -OCC's (2)
    -M7 DFIC
-some other little M7 carbon fiber piece that goes in front of the radiator (looks cool ;)
-Webb Motorsports rear swaybar and endlinks
    -Rear control arms
    -powerflex bushings
    -Alta Exhaust

I'm sure there is more, I just can't seem to remember right now.

For me, even at 5 bucks a gallon, I'll motor rather than fly for vacation.

I'll be in Atlanta for close to 2 weeks in June for work, but rather than fly, I'm going to drive. I'll be downtown, and Poco will hopefully be residing at Ways shop:D
