Vote non-incumbants in the primary and only small Government candidates in the main election. Then keep doing that for the next several election cycles and Obama and his band of socialist will be a distant bad memory. We The People will win in the end!
"The spirit of resistance to Government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive."

Regarding all the stats thrown around in this post I'd like to throw around something I was told, by someone much wiser than I. "There are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, damn lies, and statistics." Stats, as much as we like to use them, can be manipulated to show a number of things from any perspective and they demand context. An illustration, on monday night football any given QB can be made into a great. "He has the best passing percentage of any QB in the league, that has started more than 8 games in the previous season, when coming off a bye week, playing an away divisional game."
I believe we can agree that certain sources are slanted and promote views on issues that their viewers/readers want to consume. Political discussion can be healthy and you can learn a lot when you have a productive dialogue, but I don't believe this post was created to inform or pursue that dialogue. -

If a teacher's job has no rewards or consequences tied to effectiveness, you have a similar problem. I had numerous teachers who were just going through the motions. They had job security, and no longer cared about teaching. As a result, they were very poor teachers. -

I'll agree with you on the teacher thing. As for USSR, trying to attribute its failure to a single cause is a futile effort.

USSR?? Who cares..... we are going to be screwed when these social programs come due!!
1 trillion dollars ( in this economy ) to help only 30 million unemployed social recipients or illegals be able to wait in line for meds, is just the wrong way to go about IT!!

WTF, get off all the philosophy crap!! THEY are screwing us.. and baby that is YOU also!! How can anyone say it is right to trash the US?? To tell business what they can and can NOT do?? As long as it is legal and well with in the current Guideline and Laws!! WHY go freaking crazy over this when it was the Feds that DIDNT do their jobs in the first place... why not nail the "regulators" that sat on their butts when they KNEW what was coming?? Or the congress that took the money form the lobbyist's when they knew the were heading for a Crash... WHY revamp the entire system when there are a LOT of things he/they could have done WITH the People, and for the people!!
IMHO it is because they "thought" they could do anything to the country!! And when the country stood up on the policies... they decided to push/lie all the crap they could thru befor the Nov. Elections when they know their time as the majority will be up!!
I am sorry but again.... how can anyone justify what congress has done to the USA since the current administration came to power??
ALL the slogans of the past is /are true!! FREEDOM isnt FREE!! Getting handouts from the government , when they have no money , is wrong!! And taking all the rest of the US to support the welfare state!! HOW can anyone say that is right?? ( OK the ones receiving the checks can... lol but they dont care about the future of the USA) {sub note: NOT the people that have lost their jobs and bennies.... the ONES working the system}
I dont care how they do it in Europe!! THEY dont like it either.... they keep coming here to the US ( at least for NOW)

There was NO reason to modify the medical policies for the entire US for just the few that want it and wont acquire work to pay for it!! And NO jobs is just BS!! It is more like I dont want to do THAT kind of work!! Look at the people that DO work their way off the system!! They are by FAR a stronger more confident person that just sits there!! Pride?? how can there be when you have been told to do nothing and I will pay ya for it!! Have another baby and I will give you 800.00 MORE a month!! DONT get married, loose the father.. and you can get MORE money!!
IF everything is so bad.. then how do the immigrants get work?? How do they move up?? Living in the inner city ( for most) is bad.. and when you can do it for FREE... what can I say?? Drive thru there one time and see all the bling.. the Dish TV the Cadillacs and the Merc's...
SOOoo..... existing conditions? yes fix that!! Policy Costs ? Yes have the across state lines!! Meds.. yes fix that!! AND then give the 30 million with out, a MILLION DOLLARS.. and that will still be less than the 1 trillion that will be spent against my grandson!!
Just me......................( vote in NOV)

Wow, the generalizations you make in your post are many. I'm not going to even attempt to address them all, but allow me to get your thought process straight. Those who don't have health insurance are just lazy by default and they fail to get a job because they can suck on the government teet? What about current students who may not financially be able to afford health insurance as they put themselves through school? Or better yet, what happens, prior to this bill, to someone who graduates from school, injures themselves while they don't have insurance between graduation and getting a job and that injury is considered a pre-existing condition moving forward? As far as "driving through the inner city" how do you know the car parked outside is owned by the government assistance recipient in the house or that the satellite or cable are even hooked up. You assume one thing based on what you see coupled with where you are. Its essentially saying "here I am at the country club and there's an M3's and DB9's everywhere, these people must be rolling in it." Those people could easily lease those cars or be way over their heads in debt to keep up appearances.
Regarding your point about authorities not stepping in sooner to cut things off before they got too bad, I agree to a point. If the authorities were informed, should have stepped in and did not, boo on them as well. However, from my general understanding of some of these Wall Street issues, these companies bilked customers under legal practices, loopholes if you will. So by being able to legally circumvent the safeguards designed to protect the populace and the system it seems clear that the rules providing structure to these companies regarding how they deal with certain assets needs to be redone.
BTW, you make it sound as though all immigrants are illegal, which they are not. Also, NAFTA has royally kicked a lot of current immigrants in the teeth in their home country, which may add up to why they are coming here in droves. As far as some people being able to find work, doing work that nobody wants, I chalk that up to businesses not truly being held accountable for hiring labor that they know is not legit. -

Are you as concerned about the costs and problems with the F-35 fighter jet program? Cost overruns have more than doubled the price to over $113-$135 million per jet. We've ordered 2,443 of thes planes. What's more, it is looking like it wont be a very good plane. They tried to make a one jet fit all functions. As a result it is over-complicated, and mediocre in many of its functions. Jack of all trades, master of none.
Were you as concerned about lies concerning the Iraq war? How about that trillion $$?
As for business regulation, when businesses violate the public trust, they get regulated. Financial institutions created a lot of new, complicated financial instruments, and scammed investors with them. Regulation didn't keep up with these new instuments, and without regulation, there was massive abuse. So, they are going to get regulated.
Do you work for a financial institution? -
LOL... that is a good post!! It helps some people see the NEED to VOTE in November!!
Thanks for the input!!

Problem is, many of the reforms that are being put in place, once installed, will be VERY difficult to remove, similar to the mistakes made with Medicare, and going back further, Social Security (which has admittedly has evolved into something totally different than what was initially intended). They can be changed, but if you screw this up from the beginning--and there are a number of areas of concern, coupled with a number of areas that weren't adequately addressed (tort reform and reliance on mid-level providers being up at the top of the list), it snowballs.
The whole process was flawed from the beginning. Obama and Pelosi tried to ram through a program unilaterally, literally not giving people enough time to read the bill in entirety, not wanting to go through what the Clinton's went through with health reform (despite promises of making this bipartisan program). That failed, and he subsequently staked his presidency on getting SOMETHING through. It is not bipartisan, it has not been reasoned out, and we will pay for it. Very few physicians have any input on this; the one physician who brought up valid concerns was marginalized. The other physician (one of Obama's poster boys) who did support it is well known to me; he's from my area--he does not have the backing of his colleagues, and doesn't accept medicare or poorly paying insurance--a luxury he has given his specialty. Basically, he's a hypocrite.
It's amazing to me that people who know so little are able to make far reaching decisions that have so much impact....
