Don't forget Dave didn't wave. So I am still ahead of the game.:lol:

I get maybe one wave every month or two, always from first or second gen people. One afternoon, I was driving near the river when a guy in an electric blue R53 waved at me so vigorously I practically thought he was going to throw himself out the driver's side window. My return wave was kind of pathetic in comparison. I felt badly...
Sadly, these days when I pass another MINI I will just look directly at the other driver. Usually they don't notice me. If they happen to look in my direction, I wave. If not, I just motor on....-

The wave is pretty much lost in my neck of the woods... Its to the point I actually get excited when someone waves back. [emoji20]
There are quite a few F-bodies popping up around town, but I see more R60s than anything... The Paceman is about extinct here with the exception of maybe seeing one every couple months... They don't even show up at any of the club meetings or drives, and are almost outnumbered by Classics!
The R53's are starting to become relatively cheap, so the younger (Highschool/early college) crowd is starting to buy into them... Not exactly how I feel about that, but they don't pay much attention to us.
The R56's are also a younger crowd, but not many "kids". They still don't for the most part recognize other MINI owners.-

I've been seeing a lot of F56 Justa's in my hood lately. More since since The Ohio State University has been back in session.

From my perspective as a owner of Minis/MINIs for 45 years, counting on a wave from another fellow MINI driver sorted faded away about 10 years ago as MINIs became more ubiquitous and their appeal broadened beyond the crazed, hyper-aware MINI enthusiast (and I mean that in a good way) to more of the umm... ah... fashion conscious owners.
Sure they are still many MINI nuts who love their cars (many are on this site), but IMO, there are also lot of MINI owners who don't have a clue, don't know squat about the brand's 56 year heritage, and they sure don't "see" other MINIs out on the road when they are driving, let alone consider waving back to one.

Hot cakes around here, out of 6 or 7 MINIs on the road today only 3 waves. Guess the R5 folks do not recognize the R6 types.
Jim, do you live in the sticks?
