Before this, my go-to was a Subaru. Decided to have some fun so I just purchased and have been driving (for 2 weeks) a 2018 2-dr MINI Cooper. Love it so far. Questions: I just picked a prefix but honestly, I don't know what it means. I think my 2018 is a 3rd gen, but if I'm wrong, please ignore the stupid new owner error. Also, what do the "R" designations mean (R53, R58, etc)? And I just found out that the salesperson was wrong ... I am NOT driving on run-flats. Is that a problem (in anyone's opinion)? Looking forward to learning a lot about my MINI here. Cheers!
Welcome to MA! Here is a link that explains the R and F designation. Also a great place to get parts. You have a F56 https://www.outmotoring.com/how-do-I-find-out-what-mini-cooper-model-I-have-identify-mini-cooper-model-variant-cooper-clubman-countryman-hatchback-coupe-convertible-roadster-2002-2003-2004-2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020.html Not having RunRocks is good. Most of us ditch those as soon as we can. The ride and handling is much better with normal tires. These cars are a lot of fun to Mod. Some would say it's an addiction. Welcome to M/A! Runflats? UGH! If you have them, ditch them ASAP. They wear terrible and are way too expensive to replace, unless your wallet can stand the abuse. Where are you located? Your MINI is a go kart with a roof...ENJOY!
