So....it appears they have given you the site. Now....when are you going to get that place cleaned up???
Might be time to dust-off the April's fools joke about M/A ACQUIRING NAM...... These days almost ANYTHING is believable with NAM... Heck I am slightly embarrassed by the fact I am the top remaining poster....hmm...do I win a prize?! Anybody ever chat with the former mods there offline? Seems the meltdowns and subsequent departure of the mods might have an interesting story with IB, or perhaps it was just too much BS on a sinking ship to deal with.....
I think it's great that you're getting the messages, albeit a PITA. It just goes to show who the real master of the MINI World websites really is. Might as well throw your hat in the ring for Mayor of the Short North!
For those wondering or need a refresher... http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/mini-news/21291-motoring-media-group-acquires-north-american-motoring-internet-brands.html
I stopped getting the emails years ago from my short-lived stint. As I recall, though, for close to a year I could still log in as an Admin. Don't know when that ended (or even if it did...though probably) because I got bored checking and haven't tried since.
I still can log in, but I only go to the Classic Mini part of the site, they're equally strange folks but the classic forum doesn' t seem to have the pettiness and crap that the rest has - I stay out of there! :frown2:
It's just one less password I've got to remember... I do wish, though, the folks who insist on selling their "legitimate" parts over there would one day see the light. It's always interesting to see what's for sale that I can somehow talk myself in to needing.
Since their last vendor fiasco with the guy selling GPS updates I haven't checked over there. The only thing worthwhile is the marketplace, the rest of it is useless. It amazes me--it's not really moderated anymore, a few of the vendors are pissing all over the site and one another, I can't believe that place is able to sustain itself. This is what IB has created, and probable intended--a site run by vendors, for vendors, screw the community members.... We need to send Dave over there with an alias; without moderation he could probably start enough civil wars to bring that place crashing down withing 48 hours. Be kinda fun to watch....
Well, Dave has been banned over there not only for life, but the afterlife as well. HE'D need an alias--something like NitrosThumper...
Ok, I gotta tell ya. I couldn't help myself a bit ago. I went over to the other side to see what was for sale on the marketplace. After the most frustrating time ever attempting to negotiate the near worthless printed matter, I bailed. Without leaving though, I cruised a couple of the current forum posts, only a couple. That said, I found it very interesting to see a handful of posters there asking some of their same questions that they've asked here. I guess I don't get it. Why does someone come here to ask their question, receive near expert advice, and trip on over there to solicit a group of hacks for the same info? I'm not gonna name names, they (and some of us) know who they are. I know it's a free society (for now), but I say they oughta stop kicking the tires here and exit stage right. Rant over... :beer Thanks.
