And they never look at other threads to offer help or advice from what they have learned... 100% take...all the time...no give.:frown2:
I stepped away for a couple of years and have recently been back on the MINI forums. The first gen forums are really sad over there. These cars have been around for 13 years and these guys are still asking whats the best intercooler or intake and should I get the stage 2 M7 or Alta package. Everyone that has a problem is told to throw parts at it without testing anything and ECS jumps in posting links to all of their parts. Eric tries to help out with good advice and is usually ignored and DT BPV will evidently fix everything. I saw a guy there who had a hesitation go out and buy a new coil, wires, both MAP sensors, and spark plugs and say that it was fixed. What did you fix?
Yup... A reflection of the desire for instant gratification in some ways... All the info is there...a search... And the fixes, and stories, tests, etc... But why look...they want it NOW...and will post a bump a hour later... I suspect MOST of the first gen1 buyers are now very young...16-18 I bet...some are older folks who have never touched a car in any way besides turning a key...and are trying to tackle a major issue cause it looked easy on a partial diy....
Here is one from today: "So I ordered parts in the earlier part of last week Typical maintenance items ..new serpantine belt , stoptech pads cross slot rotor for JCW brakes, Plugs, oil ect..... but I wasnt happy. So I told my wife im pulling the trigger and building it all the way!!!! I also snagged a deal on a new Piper cross jcw replacement filter for $30. So parts ordered as of 6/26 Engine/Trans: Shrick cam Screamon deamon coil pack Msd super conductor wires Craven dipstick Craven short shifter Forge intercooler Setrab oil cooler Mishimoto radiator Custom exhaust"
ECS has a lot of parts and a lot of good things, especially for VW's. I have gone through the site a few times to buy from them, but when you add their shipping it gets outrageous.
Dont forget their shipping times... I was going to order the EDM version of the Countryman taillights when I got the Porker... They were expensive (something like $350) and I noticed the estimated shipping date was February 2015 when I was looking at buying them in November 2014! Needless to say, I no longer care to have those lights!
Screamon deamon coil pack!!!!!!!!! I have got to have that just for the name. I bet it adds 50HP. I wonder after I put it on how much weight I will lose pushing my MINI?
