Hubie just woke me up from my deep sleep to tell me that Dez in the Drag car has just clicked off a 1.27 The JCW R56 with Clint driving has clicked off a 1.35 Unfortunatley it looks like they are the only 2 Mini's entered
Funny enough I asked if this was SOW as I knew Jan had gone a 1.28, Hubie said "Noooo this is Big Willow Dude where the Big Boyz play............." I always get my Willows mixed up, there's to many, next time I'm in Cali I going to drive all three so I know what everyone is talking about...........
Ah right I've just looked at a overhead shot of it, its at the same place but a different track. So If Clint went 1.24 at SOW and is now going 1.35 at Big willow does that mean Jan in his 2.0 M45 would have gone 1.39 ? I suppose you shouldn't summise, Has anyone on here been round Big Willow on a track day?
Paul, Lets let the Mynes boys stand on their own without comparing them to anyone else and let those in the know draw their own conclusions lest we see this disintegrate into the same old nonsense. For some reason the flier you attached won't blow up, but I assume this is for Big Willow which has remained unchanged for some time. The SOW time you are quoting are apples and oranges as the track has changed some since Jan ran it (I was there that day) and when Clint ran his times.
Yup its that Coulda Woulda Shoulda....................... I know Hubie was on about taking it down the dragstrip as well at the same event. Here is the event flyer Login | Facebook
Cool. Ye, looks like Big Willow. Surprisingly enough I've yet to run it myself and it's my local track. I feel like such a slug right now...
1:27 on Big Willow is an awesome time, congrats guys. Kelli drove that track during a BMW SCCA driving school. No timing was allowed though and It was her first off track experience. She got right back out there though.
More confusion, I thought those pics were at Button Willow  I really need to get out there. Is it close to you? I think they're having a show and shine as well, more trophys to win for you two
LOL... this is 4th of July... the day we celebrate our independence from your brethren by drinking and eating and setting things on fire. Surely you don't want to see me on any track with a Lager in one hand and a bratwurst in the other?
LOL I knew that date ment something Yup stay at home, the last thing we want is you giving us Mini owners a bad name.......
Living in PA. we get to dodge potholes, like a high speed autocross :arf:, but I sometimes wish I lived in "LaLaLand" around you all. You seem to have a lot of fun with your MINIs :beer. Happy 4th.....eat, drink, and be happy !!! Mark
Buttonwillow is about 3hrs away from us and it was off track #2 where we got this killer photo: Willow Springs is an hour for me too and I really like this one from when we were there:
Hey Paul! Yes we ran a 1:27.7 which is extremely fast, consider the Cobb 1000hp GTR ran a 1:24. We are so happy with the R56 and the drag car, everything is really coming together for us. I think I hold both records for MINI at SOW(1:24.103) and WSIR. There were a few MINI's out there for practice but I think they left Saturday night after the fireworks.
Actually, I hold the record for SOW. I won't say what it was, but I was fast. People who saw me run said: "Damn, that guy is fast".
And if I didn't make that post earlier about not having driven the Big Willow yet, I'd claim that, too.
