And the winner is..... at least the GT Pro that is. The team if not the same car won the triple crown of endurance racing. The Rolex 24 at Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, and now Le Mans.

As usual I will be watching these guys.... and wishing I could afford that Z06 C7-R Edition on the left. Hopefully they'll have a better showing this year. If they keep restricting the intake size pretty soon they'll be sucking air through a soda straw. Can't be having those crude, outdated, pushrod small-blocks making too much horsepower can we?

I am a huge endurance racing fan, because it is one thing to be fast for an hour, but to be fast for 24 hours is the ultimate test of a racing team. You can't win just with the fastest car, or the fastest driver -- a 24-hour race requires a whole team of people completely dedicated to winning. I love that.
I have photographed a lot of races, but never Lemans. That is my great white whale.
BTW, if you are a racing enthusiast, and have not watched "Truth in 24," you need to watch it. It is a free download on iTunes. It is a top notch movie, and Jason Statham does the narration. I've watched it at least five times, and will probably watch it another five times.

TV and streaming options: How To Watch (And Stream) The 24 Hours Of Le Mans
Be sure to click through to Reilly Brennan's page if you're interested in other streaming options (in addition to another explanation of the rest of the info). I have a Roku so I'm hoping the DailyMotion/Roku option works. :fingerscrossed:-

I think it's fascinating that after 7 hours there are 6 cars, 3 Porches and 3 Audis, on the lead lap.
The Toyotas don't have the same speed but they're 7th & 8th a few laps down.
Apparently the Nissans, missing their hybrid power, are on about 500-550hp rather than the 1200 or so peak they should have. I'd call that a significant deficit.-

I don't have cable or satellite TV, so I am looking at Lemans live timing. I can't see anything, other than who is first, second, and so on.
I have to admit to a bias. My last three cars have been Audis. I love my current MINI, but MINI isn't racing at Lemans, so I'm an Audi fan this weekend.

The overall winning Porsche was their Le Mans-only third car. WEC teams are allowed to enter two cars at every race other than Le Mans where they can have three. I'm not sure but that might mean none of Porsche's WEC team drivers were in the winning car. I've seen a lot of stats since the race, find this one most interesting...probably because most of the rest are just numbers and this one has a touch of irony.

watch the 2015 6 hour races at Silverstone and Spa (youtube full length) - this year's race is going to be a cracker. It is unreal how cars so different can race so close to each other. This may never be the same again in the future.
Truth in 24 is on Netflix (or was last year), so if you pay for that, don't pay Apple to download the thing. It is pretty much a big Audi ad, but interesting and honest. -

I saw a lot of both those races. What really amazed me is how different the P1s are from one another. They look similar (other than the Nissans) but because their power systems and drive trains are so different the cars can perform significantly differently on different parts of a track. Add in the differing approaches to aero and suspension and you can't tell who will be strong where.
And that's only part of the allure because, as usual in sports car racing, the multi-class racing is there. Good stuff!
