We already figured out that work finding out we wrecked the car (mini-van not MINI) on the way to eat out after they said the office was open was not a good idea! :frown2: The bowling alley would probably fall under not a good idea!

Heh...they've already canceled schools here in the entire D/FW area for Wednesday. Tis a real mess out there it seems. I would not know, I only watched the local news, my adventure was to the end of the driveway only.

Kind of warm here in silicon valley, but the light breeze makes it comfortable.
I'm go to pay big time for this post (-;

So I have to ask you MidWesterners, why do you live there? Crazy snow/icy winters, hot humid, mosquitos as big as your head Summers. Now remember - I'm bi-coastal, born in MD, teen years in CO, and now I live in OR. I'm not being snarky, I'm just curious. Seems kind of like being a middle school teacher; takes a certain kind of crazy to those of us on the outside

4 seasons each lasting longer than you want it to, so we appreciate spring because of winter and fall because of summer. It is a nice cycle to start to hate being cold and then the flowers bloom and then we get tired of the heat and the leaves change color.

You guys that have too much snow can send some my way & I'll send you at least 1/2" of ice in exchange. Raining hard right now & the thermometer on the back porch says 28 degrees. Tough storm for all involved. Be careful out there.

Someone has to live here.....the whole world can't live on the coasts or in the sunbelt....
-
The sunbelt ain't all it's cracked up to be either. The problem is that damned Sun, 8 months of Summer takes a toll.

Agreed - too much sun is a bad thing. I think y'all need to move to Orygun, we have 4 seasons (rain, light rain, mist, and dryish), a sunny dry section (Ashland/Medford) a desert (Bend/Pendelton), rain forest (Astoria) and mountains AND a coast (which is too cold to swim in). But I have to say it is the only place I've lived where the seasons actually follow the lunar calendar. (You know solstice, equinox, ect).

Rolling blackouts here in North Texas today, the grid is overloaded due to record cold temps.
Of course I found out by losing power and calling it in only to find out the rolling blackout news. -

Mid 60's and sunny here in Santa Clara. Looks like STL missed the worst of the snow.

Now the Gas Company has asked that we all turn down our thermostats to help save natural gas as the gas grid is overtaxed. If not they will need to shut off gas for short periods in a rolling area.
And to think I thought I lived in a 1st world country. -

I didn't think you folks down in Texas even had furnaces, only airconditioners. -
We got about 2-3" of sleet followed by 2-3" of snow, not 20 mi west of here they got 12" and it just keeps going up the further west you go. Where docv is? forgeddabout it!
On a related note the wifes Dunlop RFT's couldn't even get her up the 20 deg grade on our street. The Conti DSW's on Augie saved the day and rolled right through that sleet. Damn these tires are good for this time of year!
