Anybody hear about 270 this morning? Over near Broad street on the east side it was a sheet of ice. They shut it down after what looked like 5 separate accidents. Reminded me of throwing matchbox cars on the floor and having them all be at weird angles against things. Didn't look like anybody was hurt but the body shops will be seeing some customers today!

Yikes! I woke up to the sound of ice hitting the windows. Glad I could just roll over & sleep some more.

The funny thing was the other side of the road was fine. We could not understand why traffic was going so slow the other way then we saw lights and cars all over the place.

Another Snow Day here in Dallas. Started as rain, then freezing rain next came the sleet and now snow. Very windy so little accumulation and really cold for this area. Might get to 20 today. The really good news is since it's supposed to get down into single digits tonight the electric provider is already warning there will be rolling blackouts on Thursday due to extreme electric demand.

How in the heck can they provide all we need in the summer when there are often multiple days over 100F but when it gets cold they can't handle the load.

Texas, the newest entry in third world nations.

It's because of the gas usage. When it's cold, all those furnaces are cranked up and sucking the gas - the on demand generators they use for peak demand are fueled by.........wait for it...............Gas! The same stuff heating those houses and businesses. Consequently, they don't have enough pressure to fuel the generators.....

In the summer, gas usage is way, way down, so no issues firing up the genset to power those A/C's....

I'm telling you, all this "just in time, just enough and no more" philosophy of business is coming back to bite us - big time!

BTW, we're supposed to be in the 50's by the weekend, and all next week. You should be also, right?

A couple of Feb's ago, a friend who live in Dallas was complaining about the 90* days they were having.....

Don't be talking bad about the grid!!! Almost half the power we generate actually makes it to an outlet, the other half well lets not talk about the other half lets just say it is out there somewhere.

I still say put a set of pedals under every desk in America and make us all work for our power, lets see how many people run 22 inch monitors then!

During the times when they cut the heat, I can tell you there is nothing better that a pair of flannel lined jeans, fresh out of the dryer.

Just contact ground control, turn into the wing and fire wall those throttles. Then set your course for PR and join Lotise for a beer. :D

Jim, that's the best suggestion of the month. On the ground this week. I've got to get back to Columbus . The wife's new Countryman S has finally arrived and I need to rescue it from MAG MINI.
