So you didn't get the factory navigation when you got your Mini, well I didn't either. I just figured that I would just use my phone. Now I have changed my mind and want to add a portable GPS (looking at a Nuvi 2589LMT FWIW) to my F56. I think I'm aware of most of the mounts that are out there, but you never know.

I don't care whether you have a Classic Mini, R53, R56, F56 or any other model and I don't so much care which GPS you might have. I want to see pics of your GPS mount for mounting ideas. Please identify the mount you have along with the pics.

Some of the GPS units like my TomTom have a big silicone suction cup mount on a swivel that is an integral part of the unit itself. So it doesn't need a separate mount.

The Garmin pictured is the nüvi 3597. The giant "bag clip" is the CravenSpeed XXL Smartphone mount.

I just used the suction cup mount on the speedometer of my R53. Stuck it over the 120 MPH part. I did use that part much. Not sure that is a workable solution on an F56.

I made mine out of some aluminum scrap, bolted to the back of the tacho....not sure this would work with an F-car....

I prefer having it in the left corner where it's easy to see and easy to reach to input something or change screens. some guys put them down low on the console and such, I find that takes my eyes too far off the road to easily use it. Plus too and also, since our speedo's are so far off, I use it as an accurate and true indication of my ground speed.

I also have a dongle that plugs into the OBD port that lets me use it as an auxiliary gauge set.

Thanks for the replies. Ernesto, I've been looking at the Proclips angled vent mount for the F56 but don't care for the mount location for my car. MiniDave, I like your custom left side design, very clever and well done. Crashton, the Mountek CD slot mount is nice but I don't have a CD player ib my car. Vettesville, I like your Cravenspeed hard wired mount. I would be curious to see more pics showing how you routed the wiring. Please keep the posts coming.

No CD player in your car? Hope you do have an 8 track player.

Don't need no stinkin CD player or badges for that matter. Sold my 8 track last year too. However, I do have bluetooth and mini-connected for music and voice calls. YAY!:cornut:

My decision has been made. I am going with the combination of the Nuvi 2589LMT (5" screen, Voice Navigation, Bluetooth and Lifetime Maps)and the Mini Click and Drive Mount. I just hope that the dealership doesn't gouge me too bad on the Click and Drive installation. This will give me the cleanest install of all available options with no visible wiring to deal with at all.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.
