Braille would be the best lightweight one even the Optima is lighter that OEM.

Braille is very good, I us the 15lb for track and fun runs! Tried the lightest one but it just wasn't reliable enough on a car with full electric gizmos like power windows, CD, sunroof, etc. But I've done full track weekends and long Dragons with no sweat on the 15; I do swap back to OEM for day to day though....

I'm using the Odyssey PC920, it's about 11-12lbs lighter than stock. The next size down Odyssey, I believe is only 15.4lbs, but you got to be aware that it is not as powerful. I have had absolutely no problems with the PC920.

Yep the problem is the lighter you go, the less cranking amps you have. On 15lb Braille, it has 1067 cranking amps, the more power stuff and also the colder the climate the more cranking amps you will need. For instance a trolling motor battery will have a very large capacity but very low cranking amps and might not even start the boat that the trolling motor is on, enter the need for two batteries..
Conversely if in a race only application, one where all the battery need do basically is start the motor and not run any electric fans, brake fans, etc; a tiny battery can be used with just enough cranking amps to get the job done but have very little capacity....

Actually I might ask Ian Stewart because I think his good friend designed a lightweight battery. I could be wrong.
Wanna know what i run. Sears Die hard! -
Yes he did Collin and I believe it is a very light lithium type battery. Haven't had any personal experience with them but its definately one to be considered. Maybe Ian can jump in here and give us a review?!

ouch thats expensive! you could get a quality Cyl head and cam for that! and thats probably more of a performance hike than a battery.

Maybe I can find it, but the battey Ian's friend was doing was more like the cost of a Braille, maybe a little more if I remember correctly.

A light battery sounds expensive, maybe I' just go on a diet and lose 20 lbs off my fat ass!

LOL Brings back memories of the 400lb guy imparting some great advice at VIR during a HPDE; he told me I could loose about 4lbs if I performed the rear wiper delete......as he had.....
....of course he also said his Alta CAI would give me 10 more ponies over my JCW....
No, he was not participating, just spectating and offering words of wisdom to those that were...
