Yesterday was loads of fun. We had the donut run A very young MINI owner in training. His first mod is a Motor On sticker in the stroller. M/A kickball team member Gnat being ministered to by Eric of Helix fame. Looks like another beautiful day is shaping up here in the hills too. Can't believe its Saturday already!
Contrary to popular belief, I don't know them all: #10 - rum4 and his wife. #12 - First one is Mr Jim Second, third from left is Xiek being kissed by a retired AF guy (name escapes me) who was a tail gunned on a B52 in another life. #30 - Nathan
Yea, we were coming down Hellbender toward Fontana when we came up on this GP2 and his twin. Their trailer had just arrived. They were heading in the direction of Deal's Gap. Can't figure out what happened-it was his left front, but where he was located on the side of the road, it was a series of turns where the obstructions were on the right side in his direction of travel....:eek6: Sad to see-looked fairly minor (considering the speed most of us "observe" on Hellbender!), like he rubbed up against something a little too close.
Wonder if he was across the yellow line and had a close encounter with a vehicle going the other way? Should be some vid of it somewhere in this years "embarrass" file....
Well this year is in the record books. I'm back home now. Had a fantastic time. It was great catching up with old friends and nice to meet new ones. Tried some new roads this year, some because of a missed turn and they are some of the best roads I have ever ran. If you haven't been before please come join us next year. Many many thanks to Barry and his band of helpers for doing all the work we never to host so many people.
He did rub something else, another Mini. I was also told that one went off on the Midnight Run. A stump stopped him from going down the mountain any further.
Ah, that did not occur to me! doing some of that NASCAR fender rubbin' I guess, or whatever they do that's called racing... I was going to do the midnight run, then backed out at the last minute..
Wow, now I know why I never come to the Dragon area on weekends....holy smoke, it's nothing but local family sedans, cruisers and cops.....EVERYWHERE out there today. I'm going to make a 6:00 a.m.. run over to the donut shop in Maryville and back to the cabin before we pack up to head out tomorrow.....should not have to contend with any of the above impediments at that hour on a Monday
I'm still hanging out in the area. Staying with g/friend just outside Asheville. Had a blast at the Dragon! Will post pics of the Bat mobile I saw as soon as I get home. Probably head that way tomorrow day. Gotta love being retired! Everyone ... Safe travels going home !
