Sigh. Hellbender kills MINIs. Especially when wet. Or dark. Or both. And it's not even officially MOTD yet.
All loaded up and ready to head out in the morning. Will RON in Roanoke, VA and on to the Dragon at O-Dark-Thirty Thursday morning. Been waiting a year for this and ready to motor. Of course the wife is left at home with 9 horses to take care of, but I'm sure I will pay for this later. Jim
Dang... glad everyone's OK. Who was it? Anybody on the MINI forums? I'll definitely be taking it really easy when it's raining or even wet.
lesson learned well, it was me. after runs up and down the dragon, i got loose on the way home and over-corrected on hellbender. i am lucky to be intact. my words of wisdom are to listen to you inner self. i knew my tires were over inflated after my runs and should have bled them...even said as much to friends before my "mishap." been on the dragon plenty in the rain, fog, dark....things can happen quickly.....so please learn from my experience. be safe! now i have to see if eric can get me going tomorrow....you won't be able to miss me.
That's really unfortunate, but ultimately, you're OK. So, the MINI may be able to be functionally repaired at Fontana? That would be nice. Good luck.
Ouch oxtox! Bummer, I hope the car is not bad. We're now Hellbender brothers =P Everyone be safe! Hugs, Ryan P.S. I'm driving down tomorrow. Not sure if I'll be able to escape work late morning or early afternoon so I'll either arrive tomorrow night or Thursday morning.
Oxtox - sorry to hear about Fiona - I'm in Front Royal - didn't make it to Roanoke - left later than planned. I'll be on the road in the morning @ 7 - see you guys there.
Oh no! :nonod: I am so sorry to hear that you took a tumble. Thankfully you are OK! Will Fiona be able to recover? She's so beautiful. We checked in a little after 2AM. Feeling very fried... ut: MINIconcerns is of course worried. When we finally turned off of 129 onto 28 we were surprised to find 28 so twisty. He kept telling me that he just knew we were on the Dragon! Oh man, it was kinda hairy in the dark. I'm a bit nervous myself about the Dragon. Well, if you are here and have a room near the pool, I hope that we did not bother you too much when we came crashing in. We were pretty punchy. We couldn't find our room despite the detailed directions we were given at check in. So, after backing out of the wrong parking area, I had the oddest experience. I put Little Wing in first gear, but she went in reverse. I thought that I was mistakenly putting her into reverse over and over again. 1st gear, I thought, but Little Wing is reversing. Oh no! My transmission must be broken! Finally DH pointed out to me that we were on a hill, something that we don't have in Florida. So, if you thought you smelled a burning clutch in your dreams, it was not your imagination. It was me abusing poor Little Wing. It was so much fun driving into Fontana and seeing all the MINIs that are already here, snoozing away! When I do drive the Dragon, I think that I might be the best candidate to bring up the rear. DH would really rather go fly fishing, but feels duty bound to ride shot gun and scream at me to slow down and watch out for everything. Honestly, that was not in our marriage vows. :rolleyes5: Sorry for the long post. It's great to be here and I am looking forward to meeting everyone IRL! Sweet dreams to all that have arrived and safe journeys to those who will be on the road over the next few days. Little Wing and her staff are in room 123. Drop by if you can. TTYL
Glad to hear everyone is ok, sorry about your Mini. We are heading out from Tampa @ 4:30am tomorrow hope to arrive mid to late afternoon. See everyone soon.
Thanks Ryan, Mendra, and others for the well wishes. Time to talk to Eric. I'll let everyone know the verdict.
Server is not the issue. The connectivity here is very poor this year. Uploads are a real problem, I've tried adjusting the file size to no avail. Might try really late at night.
