Well oxtox got his car running again thanks to Eric at Helix, although it's going to need a LOT of bodywork. The weather today was awesome, 70's and sunny!
Great to hear he is running and getting to drive. Mr. Tim, oxtox, I thought you were getting time on the track in wet conditions. :eek6: rrr: Pictures would be nice, I guess we will have to wait until folks get home. Does Robbinville have a public library with Highspeed internet? If so, go have a meeting over coffee. :arf: :cornut: Sure wish I was there, but I will be on the 18th. Don
I'd be thrilled if someone would just take the time to write a little narrative about what's generally going on. How's the weather been? Given the rockslide, what's driving the Dragon been like? Are there fewer bikers, RV's and other non-MINI vehicles to share the road with? Are the local constables maintaining a high profile on 129 or tending to chill? Do the vendors seem to be doing brisk business? Has the event been running smoothly and is the vibe this year good?
I share the same sentiment...the amount of news coming out of the area has been almost nil. I guess they're all out motoring. In any event, this thread certainly isn't living up to the expectations set by its title.
The Internet connectivity has been pretty spotty. Today we had the panoramic photos and balloon release to honor the memory of Ryan Marie Boykin (ryansminiadventure.com), the ice cream run, farewell dinner, darkness on the dragon (just completed) and the midnight on the dragon run is about to start. Sending photos and video has been difficult.
Don't feel abandoned all, MINIbee is right. I've been staying at what amounts to MINI HQ up here and you only get wi-fi in the hotel lobby. As for cell phones, if you don't have Verizon or Skype on your iPhone (with an online number to make calls) you can hang it up. I haven't had a signal since Friday morning. All in all I've been very impressed, this is my first MOTD and I couldn't have asked for a smoother operation. Snooter is the man! The mass photo for today was great and doing my very first dragon runs lived up to the hype. We missed the rain today on the dragon but surrounding areas did apparently. Sadly, I haven't seen as many NC MINIs as I'd thought, considering it's in our backyard, but that's a personal gripe. Vendors have been numerous. Met Todd and Chad from WRR fame, saw a GP get hacked up and have a group4 (new vendor) throw their new diffuser on it. BTW, get ready to see a lot of photos with Group4 stuff in them. Their splitter/diffuser combo was selling well. Way Motor Works had a busy tent, bought some stickers from Rally, and even had a dealership in Hendricks MINI make the trip up. If there's anything else you'd like me to elaborate on let me know. Oh yea, forgive any typos, I did this entire post on my iPhone.
Just got home Just got home from the Dragon, 13 hour drive to get home 8 of which were in the rain, yea I know I left early, had to, but was it worth it, Hell Yes.... the weather Thursday and Friday was perfect, the Leos well depends who you ask, did see a MINI or two get a gift, personally no problems only two of them on the dragon, sooo, if you met both of them, green light if you know what I mean.
