Hi all! I've owned a 2012 Cooper Clubman since late June 2014 and I had no idea when I bought it that I would be sucked into madness. I now spend roughly 23 out of every 24 hours thinking about MINI stuff. I like to tell people that my Clubbie is the second MINI I've bought, but the first MINI I've owned… My first brush with MINI was back in 2004 when I surprised my wife with a Pure Silver Cooper for her birthday (I had tricked her into going through the configurator while I watched over her shoulder and took notes). She let me drive it briefly on the way home from the dealership and the seed was planted. I totaled MY vehicle in 2009 and instantly jumped on the configurator myself to build a Clubman, but I wasn't in a position to take on a new car at the time so I settled for another vehicle. I really liked that car but when it was totaled last summer (by hail damage), I sought to console myself with a Clubman spec'ed out to my tastes. I was stunned to find that I couldn't put an order in as production had stopped weeks earlier and immediately went on the hunt for a used one as close to what I would have ordered as possible. I found one THAT DAY at BMW of San Antonio and, well, here I am. I had it for about a week before I started looking for an owner's club and when I discovered there wasn't one, I founded one. Now the West Texas Motoring Club (West Texas Motoring Club) has 96 members in several cities across the West Texas region and is continuing to grow! I've put over 9,000 miles on my MINI in just under 8 months and have never had so much fun in a car! Let's motor!
See now thats how you make an entrance! Right down to including pic's with your first post. Welcome to the only forum you will ever need to feed that addiction! Nice Clubby, they are soon to be classic's.
Oh, I have! Maybe someday… For now I'm keeping it somewhat local. We're planning a run through the Texas Hill Country (The "Twisted Sisters"--perhaps the best twisties in Texas) at the end of March with the San Antonio MINI Cooper Motoring Club. Gonna be a great time!
It took me 8 years of having MINI's to finally make it to the Dragon, even though once a year I try to get down to that part of the country. Then I showed up in a Jeep! Staying local is good for the first couple years, it lets you build up friendships here online, and makes for a better time once you get down there to actually meet them. I have been to all but 2 of our local big events (MINIs In The Mountains) and still go every year. Getting out and attending those smaller local events is what keeps everybody going.
