I know what you mean. Was chatting w/ my folks the other day and when they asked if I was coming back (1500 miles) for turkey day it took me a few seconds to figure out why they were asking "already, so early in the season." Suddenly I realized why I'd seen a big freezer bin full of turkeys last time I was shopping groceries. Of course I don't have the same lack of environmental clue excuses you have...had to cop the clueless plea. The worst part was since I didn't realize the date was fast approaching I hadn't spent any time preparing a good excuse for why I'm not coming home...had to do some quick thinking!
