I like the idea of the bench seat coming back.

A number of years ago VW had a concept much like that one. Couple of exceptions were it was larger than this one & used a gasoline engine. 180 miles on a battery sounds rather Bulli shirt to me.

It's all downhill miles....

ROTFLMAO! Now I am too young to have experienced the original version, but I love the idea of this. Maybe it's my living in the PNW, but I see this as being very successful.
Not that you'd catch me in one! -

Believe this could be a real home run for VW with a good power train!! It's appealing to the eye and has a heritage to build from.
Run VW, don't walk this into production!! -

I shudder whenever I see a VM van of any sort. The Eurovan (which cost us $9500 in maintenance over 3.5 years) was the worst vehicle I've ever owned :incazzato:

I've never owed or driven a VW Minibus, but I'm sure I've spent some time in the back of one or two of them at outdoor concerts...my memory is just a little foggy about the details :blush2::beer

I had access to one. I and a cousin used to swap cars a lot. He had the middle bench removed so he can carry his surfboards (so cliche), which allowed me to throw in a mattress for those secluded beach dates.
I do like that new one, though. If the can come through on that battery range, I would definitely give it a serious consideration. -
We used a bright yellow one as a support vehicle for our race "team" in FL back in the 80's, Tropical Time Racing. Several of my friends and I raced VW's, Porsche's and sundry other performance cars in the FL Region SCCA Autocross. We would load all of our spares, coolers, chairs, compressors, and a full sized grill into the bus and drive down. We were unpacked, had all of our tire pressures set, and ready to run in about 15 minutes. We all had the most God awful matching tropical shirts that we all wore and I worked at a sign company at the time so we were hooked up on windshield stickers, numbers, and magnetic sponsor logos...
Funny thing was, we were all in different classes, and we were always in front. Everyone had a blast and we all loved that bus... Last I heard, it was being driven by one of the kids of the guy who owned it.
I will have to see if I can dig up any of those old pics...
Good times! -
I don't think their aim was to design a 'cult car'. MINI didn't set out to design one either but it was a classic from the beginning. VW might very well have a winner if it ever goes into production.
Cheers!
