Yes both the spring and plunger were in the new oil filter housing. It's a new OEM oil filter housing. I have to remove the oil pan to get the tip of the dipstick out anyway so I will also get a chance to see if the pan and screen have any obstruction. I'm also planning on checking oil pressure manually.

I think there must be a way to connect a real oil pressure gauge & get a reading. At this point you are chasing your tail. Hopefully someone chimes in here to tell you how to do that, as I don't know how. Good luck...

You didn't say what year and model MINI you have.
Cravenspeed has gauges and adaptors. That's where I would start. -
Sorry its a 2008 S convertible Sidewalk edition

What is your oil pressure at idle and when driving?
-
Here is where the oil pressure is at startup and when driving on freeway.

As they have said, a mechanical gage is the only way to verify your oil pressure gauge is correct. Does your oil pressures light come on at idle? If not you are probably ok. How many miles are on the car?
-
Yes the red light comes on only after driving for about 10 min at idle. Car has 80,000 miles

The drama never finishes with this car. Now the dipstick broke. Went to check the oil and the last 6-10 inches of the dipstick was missing. I guess I will need to drop the oil pan which from what I've seen is a pain in the ass.
-
That's too much work. I saw a video where they removed the oil pan without removing the front nose. Apparently it's getting the AC compressor out of the way to remove the last 2 bolts.

@Sidewalk Girl The up side is you can check the oil pump and pickup up when you’re in there and replace to oil pan gasket. The front of the car is not too hard to do. I got to where I could have it off in about 20 min. Take a good look at the oil pressure switch it may need replacing. Read what Detroit Tuned has to say
https://www.detroittuned.com/mini-oil-pressure-switch-g1/
that may be your fix.
On my R58 when the dipstick broke I replaced it with this one

It’s a bit like handling a snake when you check your oil but it won’t brake agin.
I doubt there is anything wrong with the oil pump or screen. -
I changed the oil pressure switch and the new oil filter housing also had a new one. I'm thinking there it smug in the oil pan and oil pump screen is dirty or has the dipstick that broke off causing the problem.
-
I doubt the dipstick is the problem. With synthetic oil it would be quite the feat to get sludge in the oil pan. Worn main bearings could cause low oil pressure at idle but I don’t think that is the problem the car only has 80k on it. The oil pump could need replacing. Getting a mechanical gage reading would help know if you really have an oil pressure problem.
I think you said you are using the oem filter? If not try that. I know you got a new oil filter housing but just to make sure something is not missed. Is the spring still in the bottom?

I finally got it fixed. I took out the BCM out and cleaned the entire circuit board with contact cleaner and reinstalled it. Problem went away and has been fine for over a month.
