Torque steer is generated by the unequal length driveshafts, not from an open diff.

Boy if a slip eliminates torque steer mine must be broken. I'm sure it helps, but it is very dependent on road surface & steering angle. So my answer to the question is no a LSD does not eliminate torque steer.

Ok guys the question was will it reduce torque steer.... NOT Eliminate Torque Steer.
You guys keep trying to turn every comment into a NAM argument thread. :mad2: -

An LSD will not reduce torque steer. Torque steer comes from un-equal length driveshafts.
An LSD will only come into effect if one of the wheels looses traction, you don't start out with both wheels having power (unless you are using a locker diff). When a wheel looses traction the LSD then will transfer some power to the other wheel. -

I don't intend to hijack this thread....
But, in the case on the 2nd generation, MINI is apparently using a software up-grade to modify the performance of the e-diff to control torque steer. -

It does that by applying the brake to a particular wheel. Kinda like the traction control.

Anyone know of a decent 'how to' for an LSD install, preferrably with lot's of pictures?
-
For the R56, with a few more details about securing the differential ring gear. http://www.motoringalliance.com/library/2nd-generation-mini-cooper-how-to-4/r56-clutch--lsd-installation-overview-84/ -
Great info in this thread. Thanks for all the input!

Werkin Mini sells OS Giken products.
Unfortunately, due to poor exchange rates, prices increase ~12% on January 1, 2011 -
Ouch...

That would be nice.

OS Giken rocks!!!!
Revolution Mini Works is also an authorized dealer for their products.. -
i know this is off topic.
Is there any difference between the OS Giken and a Torsen unit other than tune-ability of the Giken and the torsen being an open diff when a wheel lifts?
will there be any difference on a daily driver other than on a sheet of ice perhaps?

Most of the guys I run with seem to like Quaife for their aftermarket LSDs. I don't know much about them or OS Giken.
