Wow, did Nathan's innocent request ever take a wrong turn! I suppose all you "jocks" will be wearing your thongs on the outside, too, huh? Just remember, the letters "M A" also spell Ma, as in "mother". I'm just saying that I dunno if I'd be so comfy in this world wearing "clothing" like that. Still, I guess we DO live in an "out of the closet" world, soooo, FLAME ON, you muthas!

You make that sound like it's a new ensemble. It's not original at all--I've seen this outfit several times at more than one Wal-mart, usually finished off with high heels and a mullet...go the people of Walmart web page, if you don't believe me.

Brings to mind a 1970s era trend in gym clothes attire and the rather terse treatment offered up to some by our former retired USMC PE coach... Priceless.

OK, I've had my fun for now, so back to Nathan's suggestion list. We live in a baseball cap era. Well, at least I do with my 30 odd hats. M0M even has its own baseball cap. However, the problem with baseball caps is that they tend to blow off when being worn in windy conditions OR in a MINI driven by a MINIAC at speed. This is why we seem to have a lot of baseball caps...to be able to replenish what we lose, at will.

So, here is MY suggestion. REAL sports car enthusiasts have always worn a driving cap [similar to the caps worn in the old days at golfing events]. You know the type, I'm sure...snap button in the center of a really short brim to keep the cap from flying off in the wind. Some have an adjustable strap on the back for fitment, while others are Flexifit or "personally" sized to one's cranium. Anyway, why not offer something REALLY distinctive like that style of cap? People who love their sunroofs wide open or their convertible tops down, as well as those who like the windows down too would be able to drive about and not worry about their hats flying off.

It could be offered in different colors, or in a Union Jack plaid motif and have the M/A patch either on the front [hard to see as it would be looking upwards] or on the back [easier to see since the back of the cap is raised]. It could be offered in a lightweight material for summer use or in a wool blend for cool weather/driving wear.

Just MY suggestion. It's different yet classy, definitely Continental, distinctive and is a very useful deterrent to hat-in-the-wind loss.

T-shirts are nice, I guess, but, I have so fricken many I just don't want another and I do not care whose feelings I hurt by not buying one. T-shirts are nice when new or slightly aged and they make for good wheel cleaners and impromptu car washers when they are no longer able to be worn.

A driving cap is a whole different matter, at least for me. With a driving cap you get something practical that will protect your head while you careen forward at breakneck speed through the twisties, without having to worry about your hat flying off in the process, distracting you as you search around for it, and causing yet another Dragon mishap.

I like a ball cap better than a derby, but that's just me...I don't think you'd get as many takers on a derby; very few of the double xx chromosome types will go for it.

Good quality T-shirts are nice for HPDE's; you can really only get a year or two out of them, so they always need to be replaced; I just think you'd get more interest at this point since it's been awhile. Down the road, maybe next swag time, a beanie hat and a derby style at the same time, when we're sick of T-shirts or don't need them. Just my 2 cents.

How about a Motoring Alliance Mechanic's Slanket / Snuggie? For the wrenchers who want to show their Motoring Alliance alliance and still stay cozy and warm while under a car supported by rusty, discount jack stands?

Hold on.... lemme take a selfie!

I'm amazed I found that photo in the thousands stored in my iPhone... from 2011 MOTD when Way threw a Snuggie Margarita party.

Wmwny, you are correct caps do blow off in the wind. I like to wear a bonnet with my thong on windy days when I'm topless.

Well, for one thing, it is NOT a derby. A derby is what Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, and others used to wear. A derby is what you see a lot of old-fashioned politicos wearing, as well as the oldtime Southern gentlemen.

And, it is DEFINITELY not a beanie, nor is it a skullcap or stocking cap of any kind. Sorry, but I don't think you even know how a driving cap looks like [and no offense is meant by that, ok]? Do some research and see what I mean, ok?
It IS a traditional driving cap, though. Of course, what with baseball hats, t-shirts of every imaginable style, and thongs worn on the outside of our clothing, we really do not care about something as maudlin as sports car tradition, do we?
