Erik, lives in the same Northwest area of Denver/Boulder that I do. My response time has been pretty good to date, comcast/xfinity on my iMac. with Firefox. Noted a bit of a lag when posting this AM, perhaps a disk balance issue on the server? Don
One thing...the ads on initial login have gradually increased to the point of actual annoyance. I use Dashlane to populate login credentials and it waits until the full page has loaded before doing so. A couple of years ago, it would complete in ~0.5 seconds. Now it takes 6-10 seconds, waiting for all of the peripheral "stuff" to load. I realize you have to make a living, but is there a limit? Maybe I just need a new computer and more local bandwidth.
There is a limit, and it's tough to find a balance between making a living and not annoying everyone. When I compare M/A with other forums there is much less advertising on M/A than most other forums that are run for fun and profit. I use that and other indicators as a guide as to how much I might be able to get away with. Part of it my own fault. I could put in less outside advertising if I didn't curate the direct advertising to prevent less than the best in the MINI realm. This is why you only see folks like Way, Motoring Magic, Helix, Detroit Tuned, eMINIparts and the like on M/A. Then again, Supporting Members see very little advertising.
All the ad's from 3rd parties are disabled for supporting members. You will still see the ones from the Site Sponsors. All the ads on the left side and footer are removed for supporting members.
Good to know! Looks like you will have to put up another Lifetime Member banner my first paycheck after the Dragon!
Why wait until then? You could charge five bucks a head for people to come see Isobell in your garage now. And think of what autographed Isobell T-shirts, hats and halter tops could sell for!
LOL! I'm not going to charge people to see my work, I like to share what I have done with everybody! But you pretty much nailed it... I have had to dip into my Dragon $$$ a couple times in the last month, just to get her there!
Fixed! I think. Thanks to someone being helpful I was able to find the bit of old code that was slowing things down. They reported faster response times. I have some feelers out to others that reported the issue as well.
Oy, found another issue. An old domain I had given up but didn't remove from the server had been compromised sending lots of spam out, not to M/A folks. The domain had nothing to do with MINIs. The domain was http://buysellferrari.com/ This was slowing the server down. I've fixed that, killed off the domain from the server and wiped all those files. There server is much more responsive now.
Me too - the workaround is to just paste the link into the copy directly, without hitting the icon first.
