I haven't been there in years. Sadly farcebook has killed many forums MINI along with others just moving along. Thanks for what you did. This site is still chugging along, but is a shadow of its former self. Happy trails.......
That is sad to hear. There are still forums that are thriving but it is much harder in the Facebook era. I still believe for lasting info the Forum is best. Also given all you stuff Facebook gathers and sales I don’t know why someone would be on it but I guess that’s just me.
This is the last holdout here. Talking of former selves....minitorque is unrecognizable. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
@Sully is working on one more upgrade to the site. Hopefully soon we will be migrated to the new platform, it is much better but will be slightly different. After that we will be pushing hard to grow the sight. MA gets a lot more traffic than I thought. The other thing that surprised me is how many people in Europe are on the sight and of those most in the UK. It seems MA does have a lot of good information and is still being used quite a bit. The down side is very few post. So if you are reading this think about posting when you come to take a look around. If anyone reads Performance Mini you know the Mini seen is still alive and doing some cool stuff. If you are one of our overseas Mini nuts start a thread and let us know what you doing to your Mini. If your doing a build please do a thread on your build. @Minidave has a couple very good threads going on classic minis. @Minidave I know doing your threads take a lot of effort, thank you for doing them a lot of us are really enjoying them. @Dave.0 I wish you would do a build thread on your new motor install and Dragon prep. Your post on detailing are great! For our old members that drop by from time to time come back and join in the fun. The hope is for Motoring Alliance to become a place for Mini people around the globe to come share their builds, help fix problems and make friends.
I'll continue to add some humor and other commentary now and then, but just don't have the knowledge to actually FIX anything.
It's OK Jeff. we know how to break them & between the two of us we are keeping a couple mechanics families fed & clothed.
Yea - its interesting as social media makes posting content easy, but finding meaningful content later more challenging. That said it is something I'm thinking through and the new platform does have some additional updates and limited integrations with many social media platforms.
I'm not on Farcebook or social media. I don't even have a dumb [aka Smart] phone, and still use an antiquated flip phone.
I moved to a smart phone when my analog flip phone would no longer work with our service providers system. I went kicking & screaming into smart phone ownership. I have to say now that I have a few years of learning I really like it & won't go back. How about that, you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Yea - I can't imagine not having one anymore... use it all the time. It will be interesting to see how the "folding" screen ones work.
My wife and I finally got smartphones about five months ago. We are still having trouble answering a call when we are on another app. The ringer doesn't give me enough time.
The word is that the old style flip phones are going to be phased out and that new technology will replace the old style works. I guess that means I'll have to revert to smoke signals or the old string tied to cans techniques........
The neat thing about a smartphone is that you can use as much or as little of its capabilities as you want.
