Well... A year in development and now after three hours of testing I can see that the bearings are running hot. Time to pull it apart for tweaking... Sigh....

We use roller bearings on ship's turbochargers that are as big as the pump in the photo. But they have their own lubricating system using old fashioned dino oil rather than the oil in the media that is being pumped.
They run for weeks at a time at around 7000 rpm. We overhaul them every couple of years based on hours run, in a preventative maintenance program.
