Jim.... I'm starting to think that dragon roof graphic needs to be changed out to maybe a different critter. Hmmmm, what should you go with? You know.... Something new for the dragon next year. Something really different.... I'll have to ponder on it.... Not horses... No, something totally unexpected... I know.....the critter needs to be yellow.... Let me get back to you on that... Something is forming in the back of my head... It'll come to me....:D

Jim.... You seem to be pretty good with hammer and nails..... This project definitely needs a detailed progress report until completion.... Are these going to be "Free Range" chickens? And how will they deal with or be dealt with by the the local wildlife?

Might need to start branding em or we could end up having issues with rustlers.

How do you like working with the pre-cast concrete floating footers? I've considered building a small deck with those, but have wondered about stability.

They seem to work well. Normally I use the "pole building" method. Sink the 4X4 (or what have you) in the ground, level the base board and go from there, cutting the tops off, so all are square. This is the first time I have tried this method and they seem solid.

Stability isn't usually a problem, but they don't tend to stay level in the long term unless you place them on rock/gravel or a concrete pad. The ground tends to move around to much for them to stay in place.

I said I was building light, but alas I did not. That coop isn't moving anywhere, ground movement or otherwise. :D

I was referring to the deck question. Decks tend to be walked on and you can feel the bounce if anything underneath has shifted.
