We are constantly fighting the war on thirst... Slowly but surely we win the battle one opportunity at a time... We crank out these soldiers for most of the local distribution companies....:beer
Makin another exhibit... 8-5/8" diameter x 36" long hollow shaft all made out of T304 stainless steel...
Making progress on my custom made SS turbo compressor with a water cooled main bearing, 84" diameter x 12", out of 1/8" T304 stainless steel.... A/R 1.714 Wait until I get this baby mounted on my MINI.... You are going to see some major HP and torque numbers being generated.... Yeah Baby...
Completed today and bolted to a shipping skid... Being delivered on my truck.... Two weeks early, on budget.... To a happy customer....
The one from Paulo Uber is larger... Yours is only the size of a truck... his is the size of a CLOUD! A FREAKIN' CLOUD! And it is made of space-age materials! He has torque and HP numbers, but his scanner is down right now. Trust him though. As soon as you publish your numbers, he will confirm that his has more. But on a serious note: What in the heck does that thing do? The smaller holes leading into the center shaft make me think that it's part water wheel and part water pump, but I don't see a way to take power from the wheel (gears, drive shaft, etc). You gonna spill it?
agranger.... you win... Human powered water pump... geared to create 900 foot pounds of torque... timing belt by a toothed pulley on the side you can't see... Modern interpretation of an ancient method of conveying water... Can't disclose too much or I'll get beat up... I really like doing this stuff.... Some of my work is in the U.A.E, China, Israel, Puerto Rico, Canada besides several locations in the US.
Interesting, but it only lifts the water the distance of R (radius of the circle) at the very most... allowing for the diameter of the inner pipe and the depth of 'scoop' into the water, maybe a couple of feet. Gotta be a better way! Execution is very cool, though. I love to see old tech made new.
It's not for commercial use... It's an operating exhibit.... Doesn't need to be practical.... Just interesting....
A lot of these water wheels are simply to get water from a standing source (think small lake or shallow well) to some container/ditch.
Yeah... it could fill a barrel, perhaps. I think a water screw (Archimedes) would be more useful for a working application. Not nearly as dramatic or cool when rendered in stainless!
Had a little free time yesterday and started modding my 2nd OCC... I plan on making the appropriate SS fittings to be able to reconnect the oem plastic connections, instead of using hose clamps.... SS tubing adapter I made needed for the oem connection... It will soon be mated up with the 1st OCC. (Justa Jim... This is in relative terms, nothing being committed as to when) The idea being.... each PCV path will have it's own trap.... Assuming I can make it fit....
Very nice work as always MM. Your skills do amaze me. You do have a bunch of projects on your shelf, ready to install, so I have an idea. Mr Jim can come out to visit you at the shop. You could pop a couple of beers and not do any of them together. Jim
