Sooooo..... Last week I'm at my buddies company. He has 2 sheet lasers that can cut up to 1-1/2" thick mild steel and two tubing lasers, the largest can cut up to 7-1/2" square tubing and 8" round tubing x 40' long. I recorded this with my iphone as some of my parts were being cut. This piece is 7" square x 3/16" thick mild steel tubing. The first cut is at a 45 degree angle the second cut is a 90 degree cut. The part is 60" long. Cut's like "Butter"..... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXQljxjO6EQ&hd=1[/ame]
With all that metal your adding to your MINI, I hope those are brackets to hold your helium tanks. Jim
That laser cut is very cool. Does the metal get hot like it would on a CnC? Pretty cool to see what was once SciFi being used in "real" life.
Yup, temperature of the sun..... But..... it vaporizes the steel so fast and with such a small surface area there isn't much dwell time to soak into the surrounding material, it's slightly warmer than room temperature.
The day I was there filming, one of the lengths got stuck. And I could not believe this.... The next thing I see is the operator sliding open the clear access door (which is also part of the lock-out switch circuit), and he is climbing inside the actual cutting chamber. All I could think of was the horror film "Saw"
No way. The laser would have made a clean 45 degree cut, with no bleeding. That picture is way to messy. Jim
Just finished up another project this week. So it's off to the powder coater. My customer was very pleased, finished ahead of schedule and liked the work. So now they want to talk about two more projects...... [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]
That's awesome, but what is it? Wait, if you tell me your customer is Dick Cheney and you give 3 guess, I can probably figure it out.
Copper Bar Top with Sink Cut-out Made a copper bar top today.... [/IMG] Welded corners with copper.... Not soldered or brazed.... Result.... No discernible joint.... We seem to be the only people in town that know how to do this.... [/IMG]
