We've been in Colorado springs all week on a family vacay/reunion, it's been up to 90* or so in the days, but cools off nicely in the evenings. this morning it's a lovely 64*, but by the time we get home to KC it's supposed to be 107*.

Why are we going back there again?????

Oh yeah, we live there...........can't wait to see our electricity bill for this month.

OTOH, we haven't lost power like Ohio and Michigan, so blessings counted.

 

Trifle bit warm in downtown Columbus today.

 

The official "Feels Like" is currently 113, in the shade, with Gin and tonic, still bloody hot...

 

I got 112 on my MINI thermometer yesterday.

 

Ok, and we thought yesterday was bad!

 

Heading to 103, with a 107 feels like in STL:drool

 

I saw on the weather map that you all have been blasted this summer. Here it is 97 with a wind chill of 92. :lol:

They're talking up to 110* in KC over the next few days, hasn't been that hot here since the 80's, and the 50's before that......

Can't wait to see THIS months A/C bill......

 

Oy..I'm scared of mine too. The only saving grace is that I'm this plan where they avg 11 months bill on a rolling basis. That's going to cushion me from a hellish bill this month but raise the bill a little every month for the next year.

I'm expecting it to be in the $300's as well.

I installed a new furnace in my house about 8 years ago, replacing the original 1964 model. My gas bill was halved immediately, and that was before the big runup in gas cost. It's still less than $150/month even in the coldest months, and my house is not what you'd call energy efficient.

I replaced my early 80's era A/C unit about 3 summers ago, and again, my energy costs were cut in half, so I may be worried about something that won't happen, still I'm sure it's going to be in the $200's.

Either way, even $10 a day to be comfortable and able to sleep at night in this heat is well worth it, especially since it will only last another month at most.
