Had some nasty winds blow through like a freight train. Took down one of our huge 50 foot pine trees. My chain saw wont handle it. Guess I need to call the big boys in to do their stuff.... Fortunately the wind was blowing away from the house, so no damage to the dwelling. Landed right across the driveway. Guys with much bigger and sharper tools are on it. Their tools are making the big noise..... Sawdust and branches are a flying. We were lucky... Couple of streets over from us.... Looks like war....
Glad you are OK. We had quite the blow up here too. A couple of trees down in the wetland. No damage. Our power went off at 5. We still have cold beer. We are holding our own...
Thanks for sending that storm over here to us MM. We just got rain, lightning and thunder, but places all around us got plastered. I'm heading to the other barn (across the line in VA), where they have trees and power lines down, to see if I can help. The weather has been really brutal lately. Jim
Well ....we have been without power since 5PM yesterday. Just finished cleaning up all the debris from 85 mph straight line winds. I feel like I'm Amish! AEP Ohio says that it may be Tuesday before we see the lights on.
102 yesterday and looks like its on it's way today again! Something happened yesterday at one of the American Water pumping station so the whole county is on severe water restriction, we have to boil all water and after washing dishes rinse in bleach n water! Needless to say all outdoor water is restricted until further notice! Can I was the MINI in the garage??
Wow..I was lucky. Running around town today there are lot of places that don't have power. Some major roads with no traffic lights and a heck of lot of people that have no darn clue with how to deal with no traffic lights, flashing red or flashing yellow. For all those that don't have a clue and happen to stumble across Motoring Alliance cause you felt guilty that you have no darn idea on how to deal with no traffic lights, flashing red or flashing yellow it works like so... No traffic lights - Treat as a 4 way stop. Everyone goes in round robin. Flashing red - Treat as stop sign. Flashing yellow - Slow down, be aware, proceed. DO NOT come to screeching stop in the middle of the damn intersection.
Unless you are in N Florida, in which case you just fly on through, don't slow down, don't look, don't care about anybody else. It sounds really bad up there! I hope everyone gets power and clean water back soon.
We were also lucky. No power from 5:00 to 11:30. Not bad living the Amish life for a short time. The local news readers are saying some folks may be without power for 5 to 7 days. Yep we are very lucky here.
Just heard from my friend Bill a few miles west of me. Tree on his son's car & on the garage roof. Luckily his 1962 Austin Healey is undamaged. He is still without power. I may have a Healey living in my garage for a while.
Was on I-70 here in the middle of Missouri this afternoon and for you folks back east I passed a VERY long line of power company trucks headed your direction.
I passed a long line of the power trucks headed north out of Columbia, SC today on my way to work. Not sure where they were headed!
Still without power....but AEP Ohio was able to get the power restored to Crew Stadium so that they could play a MLS game last night!! Their priorities are all messed up! !!!!!
