Clouds are building from the north west, temps are holding at 102, should get rain in the next 24 hours, likely with tornadoes, hail, lightning, local flooding, high humidity and winds, but it will COOL to the 90's
I saw on the weather map that you all have been blasted this summer. Here it is 97 with a wind chill of 92. Jim
They're talking up to 110* in KC over the next few days, hasn't been that hot here since the 80's, and the 50's before that...... Can't wait to see THIS months A/C bill......
Oy..I'm scared of mine too. The only saving grace is that I'm this plan where they avg 11 months bill on a rolling basis. That's going to cushion me from a hellish bill this month but raise the bill a little every month for the next year.
Hotter than hadies here in central MO, not looking forward to temps going over 110, ouch. But the people I feel for are the 10,000 BMW riders who are in town this week for their annual Rally, most of them are using tents for their housing. I loaded up the MINI with four cases of water on ice last night and and made a pass through the fairgrounds, all the water was gone in 10 minutes.
I'm expecting it to be in the $300's as well. I installed a new furnace in my house about 8 years ago, replacing the original 1964 model. My gas bill was halved immediately, and that was before the big runup in gas cost. It's still less than $150/month even in the coldest months, and my house is not what you'd call energy efficient. I replaced my early 80's era A/C unit about 3 summers ago, and again, my energy costs were cut in half, so I may be worried about something that won't happen, still I'm sure it's going to be in the $200's. Either way, even $10 a day to be comfortable and able to sleep at night in this heat is well worth it, especially since it will only last another month at most. Edit: Well done, Docv!
Days like today I gladly open my wallet because I love my central air. Holy crap it was 102 today ( real temp not heat index)
WOOHOO, RAIN!!! My 03 justa does not have the same zip with the a/c on, plus I like the windows down so I can feel the air go through my rapidly thinning hair...
