I have to mow the bloody Bermuda grass twice a week:incazzato:, getting rid of it hopefully this fall. Rather then using the weedwacker around the edges, I'm using Round-up:devil:
Round-up is a short term solution, I've learned. It's not a "scorched earth" sort of fix, stuff will grow back.... usually the grass doesn't tho, just the damn weeds! I hear you on the Bermuda grass, I guess that's why they have it in .........erm, Bermuda.....cause it's drought and heat tolerant. When I was growing up our next door neighbor had it in his yard, he loved that fact that it stayed green all summer and his yard looked like a golf course, but he worked on it every weekend to keep it that way.
Just got back in Ohio from Burning-Ham, Alabama. Although its 94 in Columbus it feels a lot cooler than the last two days down there. It's going to be HOT at Mid-Ohio this weekend for the Indy Cars and ALMS, but the spectator viewing should be phenominal:ihih::ihih::beer:beer
The stuff is tenacious, grows across concrete like it was soil, grows underground, overground, and it's seeds last for years. A regime of killing it over and over again is the only way to get rid of it, female dog pee won't touch it, and we have 3 of them. So Round-up, mowing down to dirt are the order of the day for the next 2 months. I would rather be spectator watching:drool
we're having the worst drought ever on record. The lawn is toast and all our smaller trees are dead. Even the big ones are wilting. We're saving the bath water to water the shrubs - afraid to use the well for anything but essentials. Still have green weeds growing in the lawn though, I don't know how they do that.
3 inches of rain early this morning, with more later this afternoon hopefully:fingerscrossed:. Now it is like a steam-bath outside:crazy:
Went out for to run an errand this morning, between the heat and humidity it's just gross outside here in Columbus.
I went to school reunion picnic today, sweat running down my face and back, not fun, and it's not even that hot today, only the low 90's..... But don't worry, in a few months we'll all be bitching about how damn cold and miserable it is..... Why did I leave Sandy Eggo again?
Nasty out..... just got the yard weeding done. Looks like I'm just in time... may rain again here shortly
Just returned from the store in my top down Roadster. Drive was confortable, but stopping in my garage was like entering a blast furnace. Temp 89; heat index 99.
The next week is looking better, low 90s for highs, upper 60s for lows. If it does rain here tonight, likely going to have to hang onto something sturdy:eek6::fingerscrossed:
Feeling like a fall day here today 67 & cloudy. Refreshing is the word. We had rain Thursday night & yesterday morning. Hope the heat stays away for a while.
High 80's today but the humidity was off the charts! Go outside for 5 minutes and your like a damp dish rag, nasty.
