    I’m having a recurring 2B5C (P115C) code.
Trying to sort out between MAF sensor,
throttle body, vacuum leak, or carbon on
valves (44 K miles) at the moment.
No other codes. Only threw a CEL
(P115C) once, but the pending 2B5C
comes up more and more often when
    I scan for pending codes.
Runs great, steady idle, and better than
usual mpg, (although there may be other
    reasons for that last item).

Woo Hoo!! Bingo! Changed out vacuum pump today and yep it was turning rather not freely and even the round gasket showed some crushing (see photo) and corrosion so I think it was definitely giving false vanos timing faults and engine lights! Once replaced checked and cleared all and ran vanos adaptation and she screams for driving now and no idle issues hopefully (knock on wood) I can relax for awhile now! But hey you know it’s a mini!

I like having two sets of rims & tires for those long rides that take wear & tear!

Will first try a new MAF sensor, then a new
TB, then pull the intake manifold off and
get the borescope out to look at the intake
valves**, then maybe get an inexpensive smoke
machine to see if there’s an occult leak or crack
that has escaped my notice so far*.
Hopefully it will get sorted out well before
I get very far down that list.

    Other suggestions are welcome.

*have already replaced the cracked plastic hose
from the filter box to the turbo intake as well
as the noisemaker delete and the resonator
delete and BSH pvc hose plug and OCC and
new oem diverter valve and all those hoses and
    connections are good)

**has had oil changes every 5K forever and
seafoam treatment through the vacuum hose to
the intake manifold before each of the last 3
oil changes, and OCC last 15K so intake valves
    probably aren’t too bad.

If you have been doing the seafoam treatment then your valves may not be too bad. The long hard plastic tube that goes from the intake to the turbo get cracks from age maybe check that also.

Might just run a borescope down that tube
since it’d be less bother to do.

Sorry, Homazur, I seem to be hijacking
    this thread.

By chance, do you have one of those so called "performance" air filters that gets re-oiled after a filter washing?

Over saturating the air filter with the oil can cause issues with the proper operation of the mass airflow sensor...

Cooper's are great MINI's enjoy it!

Another great thing is it does not have direct injection. No walnuts needed, but I would run a bottle of Chevron Techron through every now & then to help keep things clean.

Here we go! So VVT both changed and running great for two days and all of a sudden check engine light again! Weird thing it’s running good and idling good? Hmm so I pulled 3 codes in history but no new code will check with shop! Oh and also the Chevron Techron as suggested ~~
