Over the years many within the American market (MINI’s largest) have lamented the fact that MINI doesn’t offer the incredibly frugal MINI Cooper D. With federalization and CO2 standards where they are, the nails have been placed in the coffin when it comes to a MINI D on US soil. However MINI intends to bring [...] [IMG]

Very interested in this story. Wonder if this is accomplished with an engine change or by a combination of engine and new platform. A mini MINI would suit me.

10 minutes ago I clicked on the link provided by Nathan for the coupe and roadster update story and the link to the story appeared on the "Recent Articles" and I read it. Summary: No Cooper D engine in US, so: 1.3 / 1.5 liters highly efficient petrol engines, no downgrade in power from current engines / direct injection highly efficient turbos / 50 mpg estimated in some variants.

I tried to go back and link to it directly but it has disappeared once again. It's not even in my history  I'm sure that if I knew anything about computers I could get a hold of it, but alas. Nevertheless, it was a very short article.
