I'm sure it was fun for those driving the B-Spec cars. But man they have to do something to build the fields. 5 cars is a rather poor showing. :frown2:

Heh...my car would be too fast, but in my hands it would probably be too slow...

Jason been there done that, got the T-shirt. My competitive racing days are over. I'll leave that to a young gun like you, go & have fun. It is your turn.

I hope no one thinks I'm ragging on B-Spec, I'm not I love the concept. It is not the speed they have or have not, but the small fields. Fields like this will cause the series to go belly up. Hope it survives & thrives, but I'm worried...

Wonder if B-spec would have much larger fields if instead of new cars, they had spec'd a similar group of cars but cars that had to be five years old or older? The get in price would be much lower because the cars could be picked up cheap on the used car market and then modified with in spec...... The brand new cars have to be modified as well now...

    Just a thought....

I would love to go race but the prices these days seem so high that I will never be able to race on a track, just in parking lots. The spec Miata races seem much lower in price and that would be the only way I could race. I do have a car that I could use that is just sitting in my driveway. Its not a miata or mini and probably wouldn't be aloud. I just don't have the time or want to put the effort in right now. Another Problem is if I don't do it right now then I don't think it will ever happen

Cost is a huge factor. It was much easier back in my time. $20,000 to $25,000 large is a huge investment for a lot of folks. Now factor in the costs to actually run the car & it is even larger.

Running spec Miata or some other SCCA or NASA class has a lot more bang for ones buck. It probably would be more fun too.

The B-spec guys said you can run down to '07 mini. Yes I can't afford 25k either but it is cheaper than other stuff.

There was a race for a lot older and cheaper stuff the Improved Touring. There 5 cars I actually owned. CRX Si, Civic Si, Civic S, Integra, and 300ZX (dog). My buddy only had the Pinto. Now that's cheap racing.

When I raced it was in the SCCA IT classes. IT or Spec Miata is where the most bang for the buck is. If one wants to go racing that is a very good place to start. If you look around you will find cars that can be rented for drivers schools & regional races.

Even an 07 MINI & the kit to make it class legal is a large chunk of change. I hope more folks decide to do it.

Yep I have been looking into Spec Miatas and even that is not a cheap option. The car cost isn't crazy but the consumables get real expensive really quick. When I find the right car I will buy it but I am in no rush. Till then I will be sticking to AutoX which I will be doing this Sunday if anybody wants to come to Ackerman for a fun day racing. Its Miata Club so lots of runs but come early as they were at their limit last time.
