This is almost upon us being June 27 - 29. Mini is the featured marque. There will also be the Mini Can Am Challenge with lots of Minis there including that of some M/A members. So...who is going? What days will you be there? Lastly...I get the ability to drive again the day before on the 26th. As much as I want to drive up to the track in my own car lets face facts here. Not the best idea at this time. One could say it wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. So...may I get a ride on Friday please? Let's see how the Friday goes for me. I may do the Saturday but I'm not sure at this point. If I do go on Saturday I'll be looking for a ride too.
I'll be there all 3 days. Nathan if you come out this way I'll drive you. We're going back roads (42) all the way up. Friday it's just Mickey in his 280Z and me. Saturday will be Mickey, other Nathan in his RS2.5 and me. We stop at a deli in Mt. Giliead to set sandwiches for lunch.
I'll be there Thursday thru Saturday afternoon with my club, OMO, feeding the racers. I don't know if I'll be at the car show as I don't know how involved I'll be with "racer feeding".
Dunno about a high octane diet, but, with all the baked beans, cole slaw, brats, burgers, chili and beer they will be consuming, Dave.O's meth output will be rivaled and surpassed in a hurry!
Who is meeting at the Turkey Hill on Rt. 23 just south of Delaware? I plan on being there at 8:00 AM on Friday.
Lexington native Michael Pinney racing again at Mid-Ohio\ LEXINGTON — A favorite son is returning home this weekend. Michael Pinney, who grew up near Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course racing and winning there many times in his club career, will be a part of the 32nd annual Mechanics Bank Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. The track’s season-opener will include the 55th anniversary celebration of Mini Coopers. Pinney now lives in Phoenix and works for Penske Automotive. He’s restored a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper and will drive the No. 51 purple car in the Can-Am Mini Challenge. Pinney was a regular in SCCA racing circles in the 1970s and early 1980s. He returned to club racing in the early 2000s, capping it off with an F Production national championship at Mid-Ohio in 2003 at the SCCA Runoffs. He will be driving one of the more than 200 cars entered into 11 racing groups this weekend. Besides the Mini Challenge, there will be two enduros and 18 sprint races. Cars will range in model years from 1955 to 2006 with one Ford sprint car from 1939 slated to be on track. Of the Minis, there are 55 early entries. Besides Pinney, other national champs in the field will include Doug Peterson and Joe Huffaker.
Might see you for a bit on Saturday...just before I leave for home, as I'll be there Thurs. and Fri. nights...checking out Saturday, AM, and returning sometime late Saturday afternoon.
